    D40 / 400D Pic Request

ANY slr will take decent night pics, you just need a tripod!
  2. W

    Bye bye D40, Hello 450d!

I bought the battery grip for my 400d and the handling feel is so much better with it attached - also the extra buttons it gives you (ie, a 2nd trigger button for portrait mode and control wheel) are so handy and make the body so much more flexible. Panning shots are easier too.

    Camera Rucksacks

Lowepro packs are goos, I have one myself... Loads of them here; http://www.jessops.com/Store/c353/1-132-134-353/Home/Accessories/Bags--and--Cases/Backpacks/details.aspx from about £30 upwards. Its worth getting a good one if you are taking it places. I put mine on my back when I'm skiing...

    WHAT FILTERS ????

It has a rear mount filter thread, meaning you can put a filter between the rear of the lens and the body.

    Just a few pics

Great shots! Only critisism is that shot 7 (motorway) the ISO is set too high giving the picture a fair bit of noise (esp in the dark sections). If its on a tripod you can go to the lowest ISO!

    Best Camara Best price

Unless you want to take pictures of anything moving (such as trackside stuff), they are pretty hopeless... But just for static shots of the Clio and just general stuff its a very good camera. You can get a 2nd hand basic DSLR for just over £200 if you look carefully enough...

    Williams...

^ yeah my bad! Dont know why I thought the 2 had a sunroof, always thought it had for some reason!
  9. W

    Williams...

Maybe, but once you replace them the parts should last just as long!!! As I said, find a good one and you'll be fine, as with any car really! As for the op's question about the differences; Williams 1 - the proper rally homologation. Hense no sunroof! Numbered plaque on dash which makes it...

    Williams...

Nah not at all. I've used mine as my daily driver for the past 4 years, never had any problems really apart from the need to replace the clutch, but it had been on the original clutch for 13 years so it was about time!!! They are no more unreliable than any car of its age, get a good, well...

Taking decent photos in dim light

r****d????? Thanks buddy. I choose not to use a flash in low light level shooting conditions as it can make things look a bit fake and set up, but horses for courses, depends on what you are shooting and what you are trying to achieve. I find you can achieve much more acomplished and...

Taking decent photos in dim light

One word. Tripod. ...oh, and another three words. Long. Shutter. Speed. Dont use a flash, that'll ruin the natural light which is what you want to capture!

    Which Lens!?

Brilliant lens, I've got one and its utterly supurb. Image stabilisation is spot on and produces crystal images. Very good for motorsport etc. Mates GT3 taken on the autobahn (at speed!!) from another moving car (low res version and re sized of course); Lambo on the 'Ring (catch fencing...

    Canon 1000D announced

Is it me, or is the spec not that much different to the 400 / 450D???? In fact, its lower spec?! I thought the higher the model number on Canons (apart from the professional cams) the higher the spec?

New Lens upgrade options..Canon 400d. Opinions Req.

The new Canon 55 - 250 f/4 IS lens is supurb. Shop around for it online and you can get some cracking deals. Awesome lens, esp for motorsport etc. Edit - just re read your post - I see you want a walk lens!

    HDR in Photoshop Elements

Hmmm... Was wondering whether I could actually do it in Elements! Time for some new software!

    HDR in Photoshop Elements

Dumb question time - I'm using Elements at the mo (v4.0 but I think they are all pretty much the same). Whats the easiest way to achieve HDR in this using layers? I've tried messing around with it and I'm getting nowhere fast and the instructions and user manual are about as useful as a c*ck...

    SLR Opinion

Yep all good, but I'd go for the 400D over the 350D as they have come down in price recently and are a cracking buy!

    Canon 400d at £266...should I????/

Great camera, mine cost me over £400 when I bought it new only a few months ago! Do it now. But be prepared to spend more on lenses!!

Why would the police browsers give a toss about this thread, lol! Like they havnt got anything better to do than track down anonymous posters on a car forum who have a decat, or low thread depth!

Tamron 70-300mm F4/5.6 DI LD Macro (Canon AF)

Cheers guys, will look at the Canon stuff. This one has come recommended from a friend; Canon EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS http://www.jessops.com/Store/s70095/1-132-483-143/Home/Accessories/Camera-Accessories/Lenses/Canon/EF-S-55-250mm-F4-56-IS-Zoom-Lens/details.aspx I know I could get it...

    Insurance and MOT

Not much, only that its roadworthy at the time of the test! Drive it away and flat spot a tyre on the way home (for example) and its no longer roadworthy, but you'll still have 12 months left of MOT. A lot can happen to a car in 12 months. Its a pretty basic test as well.
  25. W

    Insurance and MOT

Not true. The fact the MOT has run out will definately not invalidate the insurance. An MOT doesnt mean a car is roadworthy anyway...

Tamron 70-300mm F4/5.6 DI LD Macro (Canon AF)

Anyone have experience with this lens? http://www.jessops.com/Store/s66320/1-136-143/Home/Cameras--and--Lenses/Lenses/Tamron/70-300mm--F4-and-56-DI-LD-Macro-(Canon-AF)/details.aspx Seems good but I'm not sure its has image stablisation?

    Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD @ CES

Yes but rumour has it the 1.0 profile players wont even boot the new discs! Agree about the pip thing (and lot of other feaures), I just buy the discs for the films not the extras which sometimes I dont even look at!

    New camera.

lol, thats utter rubbish! I can zoom right in on mine in various software and there is no blurring what so ever! And those comparisons were done with kit lenses, which that vary comparison admitted was down to that particular kit lens, rather than the camera itself. If you check the next page...
  29. W

    New camera.

The images produced are purely to the person behind the camera! The 400d at the end of the day can produce sharper richer pictures than the d40, its almost twice the resolution than the D40 for a start... The D80 suffers in direct comparison to the 40D. That said, the D80 is 18 months older...

    Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD @ CES

Whoops, I said this would happen; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7187179.stm Doesnt affect PS3's though. Another kick in the balls for the consumer, and the players arn't exactly cheap either!
