If it's any good to you..I phoned a couple of Renault dealers last week to get my cambelt done on my 172 ph1. The first one quoted £350 all in, the second one quoted £300.
I chose the latter but when I picked the car up the manager wasn't impressed as I should have been charged £450..their...
Cheers for advice.I was hoping it's not the synchros.Probably v.expensive at dealer. I'll get the linkage sorted anyway, it's far too sloppy for my liking.
Has anyone had crunching noises when changing gears at high revs? My Ph1 172's gear lever is quite sloppy and the problem happens changing form 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th. Just intrigued if its the linkage what needs adjusting or if the synchro's are knackered.
Any advice welcome.

Owned 2 1.9 Gti's and 2 16Valvers, I would choose the 16V each time. Both were quick, but I preferred the handling on the 16V which to me is more important...
..never lost control of a 205, but I spun the Clio once due to lazy driving!
