@Stuflac lent me his new Trophy, he’s a good un!
Belts and dephaser, full service, brakes and a few niggles to sort out for him, turns out I’m the good un!
I’ve left the RS world, and currently run a Cooper S Clubman, so will be nice to tinker with a Clio again!

Update on this
Stripped the engine ready for the clean up. 1st thing to do was the cam belt, as I’d rented the tools. Timed it up correctly, and I think going off the previous tipped timing marks, it was a tooth out?
New genuine cambelt kit, and dephaser installed, all correctly timed and...
After being away all week training with work, finally had a few hours stripping the engine. Some of that time was spent getting the drivers window up using a power probe, so I could push the car outside as the Mrs is complaining her car is frozen up all the time!
First thing I noticed is there...
They are mate, hence why I’m trying to go aftermarket. I’ve a really good local factors, but they’re struggling even with genuine part numbers, leading to to wonder if there is actually a difference in the CUP spring?
Is there a difference in the spring, or just the shock absorber and hub?
Trying to get a pair of OE front springs for my CUP packed 182, but factors are trying to sell me 172/182 springs suitable for both, I thought a 182 had different springs?
I’ve got the engine out of my 182, and I’m wanting to clan up the bay, and the oily and greasy block and gearbox.
What do people use for this? I’ve got some Gunk degreaser, but wondered if there was a better product?
So the engines out, wasn’t too bad tbh, I bought myself a new jack, a decent low entry Halfords Professional one, and this really helped with getting the height to make it comfortable working underneath. Previous engine changes, the DS3 HDi I did last time particularly, were a nightmare to...
So not much progress, removed dash top and the speedo to see why no engine management light, praying they’d not damaged the LED. Thankfully just put some foam in the hole, so removed that, plugged it back in and it wasn’t even on anyway!
Been sorting my garage ready to pull the engine, and...
I’ll answer my own question, so it comes up in searches as this is bound to happen to someone else
Press and hold the dash mounted lock button, until it beeps. I did it a few times, it only beeped the first time? Anyhu, then press the lock/unlock on the key. Start car, job done
No issues before, battery went flat as project car. Had to unlock with key in lock, alarm starts going off. Jump leads on and alarm still going off. Managed to unlock with fob eventually, turning alarm off
However it won’t start, immobiliser light is lit constant, turns over for a second or so...
I’ve had 7 Clios over the last 12 years, starting with a 51 Black 172, 02 Flame Red 172, an 04 Silver 182, 2010 200 CUP, 2001 Sunflower Yellow 172, 2004 Storm Grey (repainted) 172, and a 2003 Silver 172, which I sold in 2017. I said that would be my last one.
That was until the other week, when...
Ah ok. I have no idea what an e-cheque is ?
I’m wanting to search for some parts this weekend, so if I pay again using PayPal balance, will I get access quicker? Then just refund the previous £10?
@Nik
Hi guys
I’ve been a member on and off since 2007ish, and rejoined on Thursday, paying the £10 membership
I’m still unable to access the private areas, and after PM’ing 2 different admin, I’ve heard nothing?
How long does it take to grant access, I’m wondering if it’s because I did the £10...
Have a lot of memories in this car, taking me and my now wife on our first European road trip etc
Thought she was long gone (the car, not the wife) as MOT had expired 2016, but it was re MOT’d on 5th of January 2018, so she’s alive again!
Anyone have any info on its whereabouts?
Thanks in advance
Ok further things are happening. I haven't had chance to replace the O2 sensor, I had a sporadic DTC for post cat sensor though
Tonight I drove it for 1st time in 3 days, and it wouldn't rev past about 3k, it was hesistating and holding back, even with foot to floor, until after 5 secs or so it...
