Not too sure where this one should be, so it's in this area of the forums...
Roughly how much is this car worth?
Clio RSi 1.8 3 door 1994 M reg.
Black
86.5k miles
3 owners
good condition mechanically, interior and exterior.
Just passed MoT
Has loads of leccy kit etc.
Its not posted on...
Anyone know what part this is? Sorry bout the huge image size but I'm dumb and I can't get them to shrink!?!
Its from my Mark 1 1.4 RT, Noticed it dangling under the car holding on by a two-wire multiplug you can see where the plug goes into the top on the 1st pic. Have changed the engine over...
I need someone to do me a big favour. I need a diagram/ drawing of the back of the inlet manifold of a 1.4 RT showing where the vacuum hoses and attachments go.
The story goes:
I've fitted a 1996/7 1.4 RT engine into my 1992 RT. After wiring it up and not checking that the looms were EXACTLY...
be a total ass an buy a 'chip' (resistor) from ebay. it'll totally screw up the fuelling, leaving loads of unburnt fuel in your exhaust.
you could even join it to a toggle switch so you could switch it in and out!
Plus it gives at least 20 bhp more! Lol.
Anything over 50 in a 30 is usually 6 points, which would mean I'd have to retake my test. Would bump up your insurance too.
Still, a year driving and a clean licence for me. Then again, maybe that's because my cars always break!
I got a 1.4 RT mark 1, though I've got a screwed engine and gearbox in the front, and a 1997 engine and 'box in the boot waiting to be fitted.
My advice would be that if you don't want to spend much, fit new -30/35mm front springs as you probably will get away with not needing new dampers...
Mine gave me no trouble after they fitted it, despite the odd agressive start I never thrashed it much though. Its broke now though (bent valves).
I might have it back on the road soon, should have a 1.4 engine with 29k miles on it being delivered in the next week or two!
Can't wait to get...
Yeah I paid £205 for supply + fit a 1.4 RT clutch off Mr Clutch a few months back. Job was done in a morning and I had no problems (apart from them labelling it as a 1.2 on the invoice! Grrr!)
These people http://stores.ebay.co.uk/clutch-specialists-co-uk do an uprated clutch if you fancy...
My RT is waiting for a replacement engine after bending the valves following a problem with the belts (pin holding crank pulley sheared and alternator pulley bolt worked loose, when refitted it turned the cams without turning the rest of the engine,so on restarting it the valves bent).
I had...
I'd be at a meet if I had a working engine but unless I push it there's nothing I can do. Went to open it for the first time in two weeks today, the battery is flat and some **** has tried skewering the driver's door lock, so I had to resort to opening the passenger door with the key. Bent the...
nope I'm not the one with a huge clio sticker... I'm still grasping to my last remnants of a thing called 'taste' lol.
Won't be at any meets but I'm hoping to sort out a 1.4 engine and gearbox soon to fit to my car in place of my one, a change from 127k to 29k on the engine should be good...
I won't comment on the price, but I don't feel the objection to a replacement engine makes sense.
Then again, I'm biased as my Clio 1.4 RT is soon getting a replacement engine and gearbox.
I've got an unsilenced one from k-tec in my shed... never fitted it as my 1.4 RT has too loud an exhaust anyway (bought it off a boy-racer).
If you fancy buying it for a bit cheaper than brand new pm me.
Because he couldn't read I guess.:rasp: I mean, I didn't actually mention the word synthetic in my post. Probably because the stuff I was talking about was mineral oils.
Arguing must be in human nature, we just love it don't we?!?:D
BTW gaz, I think you'd probably blow yourself sky-high...
Patrick g46- is that £1700 for a 1.4 RT C. Elyesses?!? At 17 (last year) I paid £1680 tpf&t on a 1.8 RT!
My 1.4 RT is now £600 tpf&t at 18 with 1 yr NCB with alloys and exhaust declared. Norwich Union, as was my 1.8.
my mark 1 rt had separate alternator and power steering belts, driven off a pulley attached to the crankshaft pulley for the cambelt. Problems there led to me bending my valves!
Sadly, I don't have a 172 so don't know if its the same.
Interesting point you might know or not... the 1.8 N/A Volvo 440 ran the same fuel injection system as the 1.4 energy. The throttle body appears exactly the same as the 1.4, but it may be larger (I haven't checked its dimensions!)
Hopefully no-one else is after it, or they might out-do me, but...
Working at Fawley refinery, I know the amount of extra work that goes into making higher grade, high quality oil. You get what you pay for. You can argue, but the simple fact is, we've come a long way in the last 10 years in making refinery processes focus on specific molecules strings, so the...
yeah only reason I'm changing it is because the valves are bent! At 126k miles on the engine, it seems a little pointless replacing the head/ valves etc. Think I'm fitting a different gearbox too while its out as mine's like stirring porridge!
Hoping I can get a '95 or '96 unit now!
You'd beat them up, but you wouldn't be able to run them over because the car still wouldn't start. Suppose if you were on a hill you could roll it over them!:rasp: lol!
does anyone know if there were any differences between early and late 1.4 energy engines? I'm probably going to change mine for a newer one as mine's a '92/K engine.
Have an idea the later ones had no distributor cap? Anyone know if the ECU will play ball if I switch it to a newer 1.4 (eg a...
about £1350 tpf&t for me on a 16v mate, include getting the car itself on top of that and its too much for me at the moment. I want one before the year's end though.
I used to have a fezza si. rusted to bits underneath lol! Got a clio 1.4 now but I think thats just died on me this morning, might repair it. was hoping to save for a valver or 306 xsi, will have to wait now.
Handling on the clios is much more lively than the fiesta, more agile and a less...
Don't know if it would fit the gearbox if I put a 16v lump in. Beside, at 18 my insurance is already like a kick in the balls on a 1.4. may get another head and get it port polished before its fitted though, along with new head gasket and cambelt while its in bits.
Of course, depends on the...
