Hi there
Just stumbled accross this thread. I sprint my 172 cup in the NSCC Championship. I have heard a rumour that KTec may be staging a sprint in the near future! Would be good to catch up with other competitors from around the country at one venue;)
Many thanks to all at K Tec and GDi for a great day. Really enjoyed the chance to give some of you a few quick laps. I'll now try and get my head out of the front door :D. Hope to see more of you all on track soon.
Hi there. Here is my clio on apex springs and wearing 16” Ultraleggeras.
And here is the car on apex again, but with 15” superleggeras.
Hope this gives you some idea of what you will get. The tyres on both are 195/45’s.
I had the front and rear cambers set up by Xtreme Motorsport which is near Alrewas, just off the A38. He used to run Clio Cup racers and had the rear shims in stock. The front camber bolts he used on my car are actually 14mm so the hub and front strut had to be drilled out to suit. All in with...
My K-Tec stealth is great. Subtle at cruising speed and rasping when giving it full bore. As for the brake pads, I have tried both Ferodo DS2500 and Carbon Lorraine pads from K-TEC and can highly recommend both for supreme stopping power. I use these on my 172 Cup when sprinting and they are...
I had the Eibach Sportline kit which didn't lower the car. The pro kit is a harsher ride than the sports! I have just fitted an Apex kit from K-Tec which lowered the car about an inch and it now sits about level, not nose up!
I have recently fitted a set of DS2500 pads on the front of my 172 cup with high carbon brembo discs as recommended by Shaun @ K-TEC. After bedding in as per the instuctions, these pads grip like nothing else I have tried. Especially from cold which was what I needed while sprinting the car...
Impact gun is the way. I use a DeWalt 18v gun. I am putting some Apex springs on my 172 cup tonight from K-Tec. Found that the Eibach springs I got direct from Eibach didn't actually lower the car which was what I was after!
Hi All
Round 4 for me of the NSCC speed championship this Sunday at Curborough Sprint Course nr Fradley Park off the A38 in Staffs. Target time for my class is still 37.01 set by a standard! MG TF. Last time out I managed a 38.85 and a close encounter with the barrier on the back straight...
Sorry, I mean't Harewood!!
That pic isn't me unfortunately! It looks like a chap by the name of Mr Pinder? My car is the 172 Cup with smoke pouring of the inside wheel whenever I try to accelerate out of a tight corner.
Next meeting is at Curborough sprint course just off the A38 at Fradley...
Round 3 of the NSCC speed championship for the Clio this weekend. Just had the steering rack replaced so am hoping to improve on 2 second in class results so far. 5 Clios in my class this time so should be interesting. Target time is 69.72 seconds, my best so far is 73.59 (in my 8v Golf)! Hope...
Having arrived at Curborough Richard and I got set for the day. Practice went well with my Clio easily into the 39's and Richard not far behind. Class SB was again shaping up to be closely fought. 1st timed run was before lunch and the Clio dipped into the 38's, Richards' Golf was running just...
My Cups steering doesn't self center very well at all. I have made some enquiries and the cup was set up to have more castor at the front than the FF172. THis should make the steering center quicker as well as giving more negative camber when the wheels are turned. Anybody know how the extra...
Got the Mk2 Stealth on my 172 cup along with 182 manifold and sports cat. What a great sound. A bit louder than I expected, but that is to do with the cat and manifold apparently. Fits well but does expand by about an inch when hot so make sure there is a decent gap between tailpipe and bumper.
The back straight and cowards leap are fast and get the car sliding! The infield section is very tight and the car easily understeers!!
Overall, great fun.
A test session at Curborough cost me £45 for the morning 9am - 1pm and I had so many goes I got bored!!!
Sprinting costs breakdown like this:
Overalls and a helmet - see Demon Tweeks or similar
Non Race Nat. B license - £35 MSA -1 year
Club membership - £35 NSCC (www.gosprinting.co.uk) -...
Cheers Rich, I was looking at the Swissvax Onyx on their site the other day. Is there anything on here re how to use a random orbital sander to polish the swirls out of the paintwork. I bought a Dewalt machine and some w9006 and w8006 pads from meguires along with some 80 and 82 meguires polishes.
Hi all
Have done the clay, SRP, EGP routine and wondered which Carnuba Wax I should use to add the finishing touch to my 172 Cup. Are the carnubas different for different colours or doesn't it matter?
1st round of the NSCC championship yesterday at 3 Sisters nr Wigan.
I managed to finish 5th in class and my brother in the same car finished 6th. The class was a mix of standard and road modified cars, we were standard!.
1st Lotus Elise (Modified) 50.21 secs
2nd Lotus Elise (same car different...
