yes i do have a ph1 172 at the moment, but i have had it quite a while now but cant say i have had any problems with it. Mine has done over 120k now so thats why im looking to change car.
I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for one of these as they are so rare and they are a official limited...
I sent them an email regarding the cambelt change earlier. They said the cambelt was changed at 40k but there was no paperwork to prove this from previous owner, so had it done just to make sure it has been done (got reciept).

not really, how often do you find the inside of the engine bay wet? cant say i have ever found this to be a problem on mine anyway.
if your worried you could always just drill out a small drain hole?
i have just modded the original airbox (removed plastic where second CAF enters original airbox with rivets) and relocated it so that air from the vent at the front of the car (just below headlight) enters directly into the airbox itself. took a while to relocate battery, but seems well worth...
Took it out for a drive and there is definately an improvement, without a doubt. Especially notice it at higher speeds/revs. As for induction noise, well all i can say is wow!! it sounds like its on itb's.
Had a little trouble securing the battery in place, have tied it up at the moment using...
no i have gone of the idea of drilling now, much prefer the sound of rotating the airbox. that way i can put it back to standard.
so far airbox has been removed and moving on to battery
just had a look at that, even if i remove the plastic as mentioned above i can always glue it back!
please keep your opinions coming as i have my laptop with me as the works progress
whenever you mention modded airboxes you always get mixed opions. I think the only way i will find out is by trying i suppose.
Using the method above by jonny172excl..... you will eliminate the heat soak in my opinion as the only air coming into the filter is straight through the intake vent...
