IMO just like the R27 epitomises the best Renault can get out of the modern RS Clio until the next derivative is released (as the Trophy did with the 182)the GP does the same for the charged Cooper S'.
Add to that the fact that the GP WILL hold its value far better than the 200, better after...
If she gets 40 out of her 182 imo she WILL get 35 or 36 out of a 197 if driving it on decent runs fairly economically.
I averaged 28/29 mpg in mine (15 mile trip each way each day mostly m-way with very little traffic) but a couple of times on long A-road runs I got nearer 40mpg when I got...
It not bad mate, find it very smooth after a couple of RS'. Smooth power delivery and for the performance very good on running costs. Charged version is definately more fun and better sounding but overall I like it.
I was merely stating what performance etc you can get for not much more...
Yeah I know you have 100... but you said "whatever the Clio had the IQ has!" My point was that the 197 is almost twice the power..
MINI is an 09, turbo engine.
I now have a MINI Cooper S which was only a couple of grand more...
As for the Clio... does your IQ have circa 190 horsepower?? ;)
Agree on build quality though..
Final straw for me was when ALL of the discs warped after only 20k miles onmy 197 and as some people on here will tell you I am not an erratic driver, I'm not hard on the brakes and I'd not tracked the car etc...
The rears warped because the rear caliper was sticking a tiny bit - I did the...
Bit harsh seeing as Ian started this thread which is crammed full of "adult" debate!lol.
Admin can you not just sticky a thread called "Vee v Trophy - You Decide?"as every thread seems to end up with a very similar theme... ;)
I have been round the Ring hundreds of times on GT4 and Forza and I can catagorically say that my Vee was the quickest of all my RS' although it did take a fair bit of taming!
Evening Ali. ;) ;) ;)
Been there, done that....... First car back in Y2K was an L Reg 1.1 Metro Quest. Christ, what a machine!lol! Spent a FORTUNE ;) on it then sold it for half the price I bought it a year later.
You should have seen the beast, 5 door, awesome 13" trims, the phrase "rolling deep" springs to mind...
That is a sh1t review.
I've not driven one, the interior sucks, supposed to be a nightmare for uncapable drivers in some conditions.
HOWEVER- I would still have one, they look the nuts!!
When I had mine the cold running was a joke (mind you my 197 wasn't much better).
Had an oil leak which took Reno several visits to diagnose (not the fact that they could not diagnose but more the fact that they were so bloody rude that p1ssed me off).
Seating position was uncomfortable but...
Loving your new ride son, mine is good fun but yours is a different animal.
As said above it is different strokes for different folks but after 2 RS' I was ready for a change myself.
