Just wanted to come here and post this as it seems that some people still have issues with knocking after fitting replacement mounts.
1) Replace the Upper left engine mount.
2) Pull the engine forward is a must on the upper left engine mount.
3) Replace the upper gearbox mount goes...
Swapped over this evening.
A definite improvement in terms of engine rigidity. No difference in terms of vibration.
I'm still hitting the subframe with the downpipe. It's well tight down there.
Not sure what to do now other than replace the front gearbox mount but I doubt its that.
Grrrrrrr.

Says big at top small at bottom with washers both sides.

This is a very good question and I've just come on here to ask the same question.
I've fitted it the other way and still getting knocking of my DP on the subframe even after the mounts have been changed.
Could this be the issue?

Can anyone tell me what size spanner is needed to stop the shaft from moving.
Excuse me for what seems like a daft post...
Yesterday while driving my foot caught a cable that was down by the pedals.
It has a purple connector and is attached to the same loom as the brake pedal light.
I've looked around and can't see where it goes. If anyone could shed some light...
