Another hour or so this evening dodging the rain. I desperately wanted to clean around the rocker cover as it was caked with oil and grime everywhere. Stripped it back a little for better access to give it a good scrub. Its not perfect, but the rocker area looks a million times better.
Whilst I...
Day 3 of fighting the driveshaft. My hydraulic press came and it did nothing. Went back to the original tool and managed to get it to pop. After a bit more fighting it's out.
I had to sacrifice some of the threads on the joint. I take it that it's not worth repairing the threads and just buying...
Had a break in the weather so really wanted to do the CV boot. Could not get the driveshaft nut off. I left the car on the floor and removed the centre cap and went through the wheel. Even with my biggest bar and the jack handle, it would not budge.
Managed to borrow this off my mate and it...
CV boot arrived, so just need bump stops that have to come from France and a driveshaft nut. Also picked up this as I saw @Clio_fool recommend it in another thread.
Shamelessly downloaded as many exploded diagrams as I could from the Renault portal that have all the torque specs. They will...
Some parts have been delivered, still waiting on more.
Trophy shocks all round
Front badge (looks far too big!)
Top mounts
Dust boots
Turbo gasket
Spring protector sleeve
Brembo HC discs
PBS pads
Still waiting on bump stops, CV boot kit and driveshaft nut.
Thought as much. The problem is with the metal elbow on the throttle body they provide. If I lengthen the amount of adjustment, that should get it to fit nicely so I will sort on the next round of work.
To make it clear, I was only joking about the previous owners. On a cheap car all these...
Some serious words need to be had with the previous owners of this vehicle! Lets start with some good news. It was my first time working on a MK4 so decided to get the bumper off to give me a bit more access to the cold side pipes.
That will be the reason why I have no AC gas then...
Overnight parts from Airtec, after worrying about a seal. It looks like they include their own now! I hope this fits the standard intercooler, probably should have checked that first.
I also managed to get an account and paid an hour for access to the Renault portal...
Done some digging through the parts diagrams and ordered a couple of bits.
Looks like there is an o ring on the cold side boost pipe so I have ordered that as a precaution. Number 37 part number for ref 7701071316. Also ordered a new badge 628909470R.
Looks like I'm missing a heatshield on...
Had an hour after work so wanted to make a start on a few jobs. First thing to go was the stupid diffuser extenders. Looks much better without them!
Next on the list was to investigate the poor handbrake. Thanks to a lovely video from @Adey. I had access in no time. Unfortunetly it wasn't...
Picked up today from @charltjr It's actually tidier in person than I expected. The colour is beautiful in the sun, in photos it tends to look a bit washed out, but in person it really pops. So far I'm really impressed with it. It's everything I hoped my Fiesta ST was going to be. The Clio has a...
