Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Did a road rally last night and temps were good after another new header tank and a total coolant flush, but def thinking i should have gone for an f4 over the f7, but the new owner when its sold can worry about that :)
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Im thinking i may have to bite the bullet and get an oil cooler, as well as sorting a bigger rad, as when i come off a stage both water temp and oil temp needles are in the red, they stay at a reasonable level through out a 100 mile road rally, but stages it...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
The 5 is basicaly stripped out, 172 brakes, megane 2 litre on r1 throttle bodies and mega squirt, unfortunatly mapped by a local 'rolling road expert' who doesnt really have a clue what he is doing, and all put together with the 'cable ties are far too posh'...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
yep, thats danny driving, the owner, and the passenger is the owner of the yellow 5 next to it...,with my old mk1 fiesta arches on it believe it or not!
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
shes a beauty, using my spare sump and tca's and an engine lifted out of a mondeo on tuesday as it threw a rod on friday doing a road rally!! Id have come up aswell but was too busy getting the clio and 205 ready for a stage rally this coming...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
I saw that, i cant work out if it was him or his missis driving in the vids, my mate danny was going round in a blue mk1 escort aswell, not very quickly, but very sideways lol
the rs1800 had the extra power not just because of cams, the cams, throttle body and plenum (which isnt the same as the gti as they are eec 5 not 4) ecu and maf....,but the 130 cams are an easy and cheap upgrade even if not by very much, plus now you have all the bits you need like the sump and...
an escort gti is 115bhp, but assuming you remove the cat etc you should have a nice bit of poke compared to now.
The red fiesta was running on 7x15 compomotive mo's in an et 37, but with a 25mm spacer to bring the offset back to an et 3, which is what the 7x13 wellers it used to run were, they...
it should fit ok if your filter does, we were going to run one on our white 205 but it doesnt clear the power steering, so it is redundant till it goes on ebay, but dimension wise where it replaces the filter it took up less room than the filter does
Re: Mk1 F4R'd Track Car Project [2010 Winter Rebuild]
looking good, tho cant believe your still using the awful standard steering wheel, that was the 1st thing to go in the bin when i got mine
1.8 silver tops usualy make around the 155 mark, a 2 litre black top with a good long primary exhaust manifold will make 170, the main problem being the standard cams are pathetic, the heads flow enough for over 200, and the bottom ends are safe to 8k, get some nice lumpy sticks in there and...
exactly what i said...,ive just bought a brand new black top zetec for £650, pair of carbs or throttle bodies (depending on budget) and you have an easy 175bhp, would go very nicely in a little fezz
A pinto can make good power, but at the end of the day its only an 8v lump of pig iron, compared to modern engines its rubbish, but a proper 200bhp 2 litre bellows and sounds lovely in a way 16v's cant.
Clean and tidy, tho should have made it more useable with 4wd than rear, but turbo's suck and anyone who looks at you in it will think 'hairdresser chav':dead:
oh and easy way to tell if its a 1.3 or not, is look above the water pump, the head will be right above it if its a 1.3, but there will be an inch of block between the pump and the head if its a 1.6 ;)
a pinto is too long tall and heavy, but do make good power if built right, the zetec se is a great engine, but under powered and unless you transplant a later box with it, doesnt mate to the normal fiesta bc gearbox, 1.6 cvh is a nice torquey motor, for 5 minutes then its knackered.
Usual...
I use T1-R's on my civic on the road, and on the clio for road rallys and i wont use anything else, as i find them superb, especialy in the wet, and the cost of them for how they grip i regard them as free lol.
I use a mixture of dunlop and hankook slicks/inters/wets on stage rallys which are...
Our red 205 suffers from fuel surge the same, so we make sure it has over half a tank for each stage (read as too lazy to fit a swirl pot)
Can i ask where you got the grA system from and how much it was please? i have a 2 inch magnex system on mine as thats what was on it when i bought it and...
ok yes they are 48mm jenveys...,but with 42mm chokes, that better?:rasp:
I may know you yes, your the supplier of yummy cake ( bu**er stole the pink one!) and i supplied the ingredients for a rather odd but very nice fruit based drink/concoction lol.
Good to see someone i know at last on...
We came 2nd as we got lost on a section near the start, but then easily cleaned the rest where as nobody else did....,Caerwent on sunday was brilliant, never done it before and was seeded at 91 of the maximum 100, finished 36th, not bad considering we are even still on standard suspension:D lost...
I did one last night, 1st with the new engine
Always looks better covered in mud lol....,didnt miss a beat, which is good as doing a stage rally at Caerwent in Wales tomorrow:)
