GT7 scapes mode, vs real life - they've been all over Noth Yorkshire & the Lakes (as well as the rest of the world) taking pictures for you to insert a car in-game. More fun to visit in real life though right??
Not sure if any of you have tried this - would deffo recommend as an excuse for a drive out!
Don't visit Hardknott Pass though, it's horrendous :ROFLMAO:
Wow, 5 year thread bump
Well, the E36 ended up looking pretty good for a compact! It did a few trackdays
...before donating its engine & suspension to an E30
Then it sat for a while and got scrapped a couple of months ago
In summary, MX5 = good car, E36 = good car.
The end!
So wee update on the compact, cba starting a thread.
As above failed MOT on emissions and a crusty exhaust, so took that off to have a look...
Nice and riggy. The 'cat' was just an imitation apparently! Weird.
I intended to just fit a complete coupe exhaust from a 328 with a bit of length...
Yes you did! I remember. Yeah looks like a proper fun championship!
So failed its MOT today, needs an exhaust and one of the headlights is from a LHD lol! No biggie, exhaust needed to go anyway and I wanted to swap the headlights for proper glass lense ones like you'd get on a coupe or saloon...
2.8 M52 out of a 328i. Would love to try a regular 318ti though, bet they're more than powerful enough for some cheap fun! They race them in the 'Compact Cup' looks like a right laugh!
Yeah looks ideal! The engine is a smaller displacement than mine so not dissimilar at all. Shame mines RHD because bmw motors like boost... steering column ruins everything!
It's just on BC coilovers with the interior stripped. It's very light at the rear which makes for "interesting" handling... Might get a thread up at some point as I feel like compacts are just labelled as crap for having an old fashioned rear end. Thing is, nobody ever said the E30 M3, Z3M etc...
Thats right yeah! Loved the NC and wish I could've kept it but realistically I don't actually need a car so this was sitting outside my house costing money and ultimately getting wrecked by little kids that live on my street so... I'll be moving house next year and it would've been a little...
Hi. Non-sport bumper with sport wings:
I did try and fill in the 'triangles' by chopping up both a sport and non-sport bumper but got massively pissed off with it and sold the car. Should've just used fibreglass, but hey ho! Managed to find some pictures off of Photobucket... Seems like so...
Best passenger ride ever! Lucky enough to have a few laps in both cars, both absolutely awesome drivers.
I've just bought an E36 again pretty much because of that day!
Couldn't have picked a better time for a passenger sesh! Thanks again mate. Both cars were seriously impressive, definitely changed my mind about FWD! I sense a dedicated track car coming...
Yeah not bad mate, all going well other than needing desperately to move house! Haha
I think the mk2's were worst for rust but they all do it. Cheap S**t really!
@Mr Burns
Cant reply in that thread but great choice! Rodders knows how to build an awesome MX5. It'll last forever on track too...
Id go for it! Theyre awesome wheels. Mine are 17x8 5x114 et45 and theyre only very slightly heavier than RPF1's. Still light as f**k though, you'll need all the help you can to go sub 1100! @Christopher
Tell me about it! Honestly... Thing is they were playing out again the next night - so they've not even been grounded. What can you do if they've got s**t parents!
I do love MK1's, don't get me wrong. But drive them back to back and you can see the difference immediately. Especially with a few...
I'd do it. Still maintain that they're better to drive than the early cars. Unfortunately I've had to put mine away for a while until I move house. Had trouble with c**t kids jumping on it because it's sat at home all day...
Sigh.
Not much to report, I've been just driving it when I can! Still think I need a quieter exhaust, so might look into that in the coming months.
I gave it a proper wash at a mates house, was covered in crap unfortunately, mainly from the brakes I think! So dusty.
Lots of fallout removed...
There's been talk of companies producing manifolds (G19 I think) but nothing yet. I really want a Fab9 kit from the US. Looks really amazing!
No way haha you won't regret it! Such an awesome little car! Get a thread up asap
I think MK1's are still cooler, just nowhere near as capable. I really can't wait until people start doing DIY turbos on these newer ones, that's all they're missing now.
Yeah it's awesome fun! Even if you over-do it into a corner it just deals with it. Really flatters the driver in that way...
Small update: it had a decent day with Blink motorsport last Friday; was in for an alignment, fitting the RX8 rollbars, an engine, gearbox and diff oil change (not necessarily needed but well worth it IMO) and a remap.
I wanted it set up pretty aggressive as it's essentially just a toy to be...
I mean, it's the same car as an RX8 underneath just a bit shorter. So that engine slots right in...
What this car needs is boost though. Just not for a while yet!
