Yeah I managed to forget my licence! Doh!!
Helen managed to get 8 runs in, her best being a 14.8 @ 95mph which I was pretty impressed with...it was her first time out! And a little bit close to comfort as my best time at York was 14.7 @ 94mph!
Think she managed to embarass quite a few...

Yeah when I went to Santa Pod it was just slightly damp and because there is so much rubber laid down on the tarmac it made it really slippy. I was getting shed loads of wheelspin as changed up into 2nd, so only managed a couple of 14.8s and a 15.3

From what Ive been told the car Ford supplied to do those times had a strange Overboosting problem...
Which kind of makes sense because none of the other magazine reports Ive seen have managed to get...
I cant comment on LADs work on the 172, but I can tell you that LAD have a very bad reputation for making wild power claims. Thats not to say that the actual work they carry out is of a low standard, but of all the conversions Ive heard theyve done on 106 Gtis and VTR/Ss havent made anywhere...

Its not about how much boost they produce its the dynamic loads on the engine that cause the damage...
Take a piece of paper hold one end in one hand and the other end in the other hand... now slowly pull your hands apart, you can apply a massive...
Mines running 0.6 bar of boost and produces 165bhp & 148ft/lb torque @ wheels which is over twice the standard power output...

Putting a turbo on an engine robs a fair bit of power, its like having an extremely restrictive...
My mates has a Scooby 2000 Turbo, had it rolling roaded and its producing around 220bhp @ fly approx. but as he told me after a bit of persuation that only works out at a rather laughable 130bhp @ wheels.

Well from what I know one was running over 250bhp on standard pistons... He knew they were going to go at some point and bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th didnt really help. Sounds like hes having forged pistons fitted at the moment and will be back with around 300bhp! Other car had just had...

540i only does 0-100 in 17.7s so theres very little in it between a 172, plus if it was an auto you can add at least another few seconds to that time.
Still its a relatively quick car for its size. My GFs dads got a 540i and a Sierra Cossie, but my little Sax is quicker than both of them ;)
