mint phase i 172 68000 miles good service history cam belt and aux belts done have a look call me on 07815581421 with any questions http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1816928.htm
This problem now solved by fitting a longer belt it has moved the tensioner spring away from the powered steering pulley. Belt we fitted was 6PK1670, thanks for all the replies.
Have changed everything to do with aux belt but the bottom of the tensioner spring runs
to close to the powered steering pulley and eventually wears the belt out.
I have now fitted 3 brand new aux belts to my 172 every belt once fitted has been worn through by the tensioner spring moving to close to the powered steering belt pulley. Have been told that if the tensioner does'nt centre then
the tensioner is seized so i have renewed this along with new...
Can any one tell me the correct way to fit an auxilliary belt tensioner so the spring sits central to the pulleys on a 172 mine has moved towards the back of the engine and worn a groove in the belt. It looks like the spring has gone over centre.
