I'm not saying you should give away your images for free - its great you are getting money.
I just get a bit annoyed when people say you shouldn't give your images away for free when it is their own free choice to make.
I very rarly give my work away free especially to people that aim...
I'm a stay at home dad, I still do work for my old PhD supervisor and don't get paid anything :P
there is a difference between doing a job for nothing and doing somthing as a hobbie.
these were taken with my 5D2 and 100mm macro, the L version has IS and better build quality thats it really TBH you'd not see any sharpness difference between the two
cheaper off getting prints from DS colour labs
mobile would require power source remember.
probably one of the canon printers would be a good choice although the epson P50 claims to be able to produce better than lab quality prints
as light modifiers go they modify the light emited by the flash but with a speelite you have a limited beam width. you can attach a brolly to the flash and have it on a stand but you need to be able to fire the flash remotely.
what kind of use do you envisage for the flash - people, cars...
ND filters come in strengths like what you've seen there factors of x2, x4, x8 (which is basically 1 stop, 2 stop, and 3 stop). so depending on how much light you want to remove depends on which one you use. normally you have all three lol
are you looking at screw in filters or square...
40D has better IQ overall particularly int eh noise department.
you can get a refurbished 40D from the canon outlet store on ebay which gives you a camera with a one year canon warranty.
portable lights are not the cheapest around £300 a pop for a cheap set of portable lights

I use the 24-70 HSM varient on my 5D2 and its a class lens however on a crop body it will be lacking at the wide end. you'd probably be better off with the sigma 17-50 f2.8 HSM OS (new one just relased) obviously it depends on how much you want to spend lol.
the 18-55 lens won't fit on the 5D for two reasons; the lens mount is EF only and the image circle of the 18-55 is smaller than the 135 frame sized sensor.
how much cash you got to spend?
you can do time laps with the canon TC-80N3 remote - set it to fire off a frame every X seconds or...
if you are using a crop then a 17-50 f2.8 type lens and a fast prime say a 50mm f1.4 plus a flash and you'll be fine.
taking pics of weddings is just the same as taking pictures of people. Pros make it sound difficult to keep their business ;)
just be careful of light, exposure...
the problem with kids in organised events like at school and say the cadets is that there maybe kids in some sort of protective environment.
I can take all the pics I like at my school but never of anyone elses kid purely cause they are of no interest to me.
why you would want to take...
