@SharkyUK I have to say I was as I always am excited to see your post had been updated followed very closely by sadness.
I feel really sad for you as I know it can’t have been an easy decision to make. But at some point you have take a reality check. I feel happy for you as you now feel a...
I used my vernier calipers last night to check the pistons and the bore of the ph1 block. On the pistons I got ~82mm (however there is carbon deposits on the outside which will hinder an accurate reading!!), the rings expanded were ~85mm,I squeezed the ring with the Vernier best I could and...
Out of interest @Brigsy where did you get your Wiseco tapered piston ring compressor from? I assume the pistons are slightly smaller on the R5s? Clio/Megane pistons are 82.7mm , I presume I would have to get the 83mm version?
Yes you have to be careful as there are many different grades of crimping lug, you obviously need the right tool for the job which you're now getting!!
I’m an Electrical Engineer, I work in a power station ? But I worked my way up to where I am, so I know a bit about electrics ?
For you mate I’d do it for beer ? and burgers ? ? As I said it’s unfortunate I don’t live closer ?
Nice little home for it @SharkyUK I would suggest getting some decent lighting in there, TBH two single four foot fluorescents aint gonna cut!! You will really want some decent lighting, if you weren't so far away I'd do it for you ?
It’s come to a big fat halt again due to work, person problems and another home project (the bathroom) to do. Happy wife = happy life!! Once that is done there are no more big home projects so I can work on the Clio guilt free ? Plus gives me more time to save up for the bits I want to make sure...
That explains @NorthloopCup question the other day!! My advice Sharky is to make sure you at least order the banjo bolts for either end of the fuel rail. I didn’t and then ended up ordering it the other day with some other parts. Each time John at R Sport has been extremely helpful ??
Tbh mate I think these figures are well documented on the site. However once I have removed all the brackets I am taking off I will weigh them. If I get chance I’ll weigh the old bootlid.
The GRP bootlid on its own with no screen or spoiler is ~4kgs
A quick sneak in the garage this evening. Rather than working on the shell, as plans have change due to many discussions with @NorthloopCup I thought I’d do a bit of block dismantling.
The head was already off so I stripped off the remaining sensors
I then set about removing the unrequired...
Well progress was hampered somewhat last week by me being away from home on a course.
So had an hour on it on Saturday evening before the noise police ?♀️ came out and told me it was too late to be making this much noise ?
On the Sunday I managed to get another 3/4 hour on it before the...
So since @NorthloopCup took me for some hilarious laps round Donnington with a view to spurring me on to finish my project.
I thought I better have a go getting some bits done on the RB today....
However it wasn’t the best day to be working as even though the RB is empty and now has no...
