For sure the rest of the car is worth it! Gotten to really like the car sorting loads of little niggles with it the last few weeks! Swapping in my cleaned interior ect.
Just don’t think I’ve quite got the knowledge to fix it myself even if I collated the bits over time.
The moneys not a...
Thanks for the slight vote of confidence! I think my main concern is how much I can do myself to save the money! If I need the garage to do it all, I might as well not bother!
Good shout with the tank from a petrol. I did begin to make a list at work:
- Fuel tank cleaned out / replaced - £20...
So (takes deep breath):
Clio went in to an injector specialist as it had leak back on injector 2 diagnosed a while back.
It was not good news:
Metal filings from the filter and injector 2 is shot (the others aren’t great).
Diagnosis of early fuel pump failure basically. (A luck of the draw...
So after persisting with my 5 door pearl black dci and getting it up together, this came up for sale:
Loads of you will recognise it from the forum back in 2011 and also more recently from Mark on here who’s used it as a daily for a while.
It needs a little tidying up:
- Headlight washers...
Yeah, annoying as I bought these wheels and tyres as my ones were nakered! Seemed like a ‘cheap’ fix as one of my standard wheels was buckled and I needed 4 new tyres...
Spacers for now? Bolt to hub ones then can look at what to do with the wheel situation.
Just need some run’able wheels and...
Hmmm they are a 50..
Was planning spacers anyway but the rears don’t look like they’ll take them... there doesn’t seem to be enough space...
Any experience?

Thanks mate!!
New wheels seem a right fit...
They’re just 16” 182 wheels
Do they foul at all on the bottom of the spring cup when in use?

Haha, can confirm that the house in the picture is not my mates! And yeah random that the owner just dumps in on the grass outside! (Think it maybe a rental; the house that is)

More progress:
Sorted my cigarette lighter unit so that’s now working and fitted the most of the sport interior. Temporary gear knob insert:
And these arrived:
4 182 wheels with almost new tyres, £100.
There’s bargains out there for these daily’s.
All that’s really left now is probably...
So, to keep updating this for myself! (I guessed a 5 door dci wouldn’t be that appealing)
Changed the steering wheel today to my 172 one! Was actually a doddle. Followed the guide on here and took all of 15 minutes! Another big improvement!
Old: stick and dirty no matter what you did to clean...
A little bit of weekend time and a day off today saw some more progress being made.
It’s amazing what a different car it feels like with clean and smart interior swapped.
I’ve been cleaning EVERYTHING with either upholstery cleaner or anti bacterial wipes lol! But it does make it feel so much...
Still making progress removing all the interior... minus the one bolt that’s still stuck in...
Cleaned all the carpets and seatbelts at the weekend I’d collated:
Before starting:
During for the seatbelts:
And here she is on the drive:
Still feeling the love just time collecting parts...
So, the car went through it’s MOT after fitting the front discs and pads!
Advisories were a front tyre was getting low and a wiper blade! Spot on for £420...
Swapped out the boot lock solenoid as the boot wasn’t locking with the car...
Did the trick and was an easy swap!
Then started...
So the collecting of bits continues:
Heater Panel in the car currently
And the second hand one for £15
Then was my front brake situation. The discs and pads arrived from @Mazz in a Maserati box [emoji6] thanks again to him!
And I cleaned out the scuttle drains, which were pretty good...
Picked up this spare wheel this evening though with a almost new tyre...
Typical when you go in the boot and there is nothing in the spare wheel well.
Not sure what Renault model it was from but it will do for £15 to sit in there.

Ah mate, thanks for the offer lol. The wife wasn’t happy me picking this one up from Birmingham let alone trecking for parts!

Tried to find out some info on the sport interior when fitting it to a 5 door.
I’m guessing that none of the door cards will fit due to the 3 door doors being larger and obviously there being no rear doors...
The carpet? Or is the floor plan different?
So I would only be able to fit the front...
Yeah it is! I followed it back there and it was a bit of a mess!! I would of liked to just remove it but it’s been bodged in by the looks of it...
Might have to spend some time in daylight looking at the wiring that comes from down the car to the cluster originally and then what someone’s done...
So progress is slow due to work commitments and gathering necessary parts for the MOT / general clean up.
Sourced some front discs and pads from @Mazz who’s a absolute gent! As soon as there here it’ll go in for it’s MOT and we can find out what else it will need.
Last advisory was ‘play in...
Yeah strange way round, the pipe was shocking compared to the valve!
Quite possibly with the belts, yes! I was thinking that was possibly causing the screeching but hard to diagnose.
The cambelt was done years ago so going to have to suck that cost up ASAP. Water pump and drive belt at the...
So I tackled the EGR valve cleaning and charge pipe. Followed this guide on YouTube:
Was pretty straight forward for anyone with some mechanical knowledge.
EGR was a little sooty:
And then after a clean:
Also the charge pipe was worse:
All in all it was worth while exercise and...
So it turns out that it had more history than was stated (why you wouldn’t tell people in an advert but...):
All in year order now with some stamps also in the book from new
I’ve ordered a full service kit and some front discs and pads.
Got a 182 interior to pick up this weekend. Unsure...
