Im back on this forum again with my 6th Clio now!
Got offered this 172 the other day for the bargain price of just £500 from a friend i play in a pool league with.
Its covered 96k miles and its completely standard, my friend having owned it for the last 10 years.
Belts have been done previously...
I have also sold the original headlights this week for £70 so its cost me £30 for the black xenon upgrade!
I also sold a dynamique S skirt that came with the replacement parts i bought for £20
Taking the £90 off the total the car has cost me - £2295
Not sure what to do about the standard...
These past couple of weeks have definately changed the car completely!!
The front bumper is now back from the paint shop, fully smoothed rub strips and numberplate recess - £200
The coilovers have been fitted, not making it rediculously low being winter but there is room for a bit more low come...
Looking good mate, to save painting the trim probably worth just buying them in antracite, mine came factory in that colour :) If you have black id be willing to trade
Another update on progress.
The wheels have now come back from the paint shop after a nice powdercoating in gloss black - £100
After over 2 months of searching some well priced coilovers finally arrived! A set of AP racing coilovers for just £220!!!
I also painted all the brakes matching gloss...
As you can see the centre caps were a little worse for wear and i had 2 options, spend £40 on a set of new centre caps that i didnt need that much or option 2, find some 45mm domed inserts and replace them.
Decided for option 2 but they werent Team Dynamics branded, think it looks pretty good...
Another little update on the car, one of many coming up this week as i hope to have it near finished by thursday :)
Picked up some Genuine Renault 197 Xenon lights for £100 so got them fitted
Will be selling the standard ones to recoop some of the money as well
Also picked up some 17" Team...
Wondered if someone could help me out here, before i fit them and keep taking them off because of being not low enough what is ideal? Do i take the helper springs out on the fronts and do i take the heigher adjuster off the rear springs? Or do i just wind them right down on both and keep the...
Think ive decided on coilovers now, ill never be happy without them!
After a week at the bodyshop my new front bumper is now finished. A boat load of work has gone into it but it looks amazing!
Will get some pics up soon as its built back up and put on the car :)
Such a hard decision deciding about coilovers or lowering springs!! would mean an extra £350 spending which i didnt plan or want but ill never be happy with the handling or the lows otherwise :s
Managed to get a few more bits put on today now its been fully detailed :)
Gel plates - got 2 free blanks off a friend then bought the gel characters for £16 so total cost - £16
Stubby Aerial - £8
Tinted rear lights - bought a set off ebay for £30 then spent £10 on spray tint and lacquer, ill...
Well, not so much major euro just nice and smoothed off front and rear, wont be going on deep dish's though as its just my daily. Waiting on coilovers too but will be reasonably low, nothing inpractical though
I do see what you all mean, thats why ive kept everything to go back OEM :) But if you see mine in person you'd agree everything thats been done is to a high standard and i love it which is the main thing
It would be interesting to know the age of the commenters, i bet most of the negative's are from people 30 and over.
I dont mind the comments as i love the car how it is, sounds amazing, handles awesome and obviously i like how it looks :)
This is probably a pretty stupid question but is the Clio and Twingo suspension similar or the same?
Cant find Coilovers in my budget for my clio but seen these on the FK website, reduced to just 140 euros!!
Any way it could be fitted to my clio...
You must have a great eye for paintwork!! Yes the mirrors were corroded on the base plates (common problem) so had them resprayed and with regard to the bootlid its full one piece fibreglass, not the spoiler add on.
Did have the option to blow it into the wings but it doesnt bother me that much...
