Yeah, Im not too fussed about whether its a 1,2 or 3. I thought I wouldve preferred a no.1 as they were numbered.
Ideally Im looking for a low miles, fsh etc...but Im not too fussed. Or is a Williams a car which NEEDS a fsh (whether it be for resale value or whatever?)
Am looking into buying a Williams at the moment
So, which is your favourite clio williams - 1,2 or 3? and why?
Would you modify one, if so, whats the most you would modify it (as theyre kinda exclusive arent they)?
Would you buy a car with no service history??
Just been looking at a car with no service history, low miles, but the owner tells me its had a light frontal impact/repaired, though should be Hpi clear...
...its about 1k under list price, should I stay well clear or consider it?
Just wondering what youre all paying for your insurance on williams, and your age and NCB, and rural/urban location etc.???
Am considerin prospect of a williams, am 21 tho, with 2 yrs ncb.
Ive seen a williams2, but are they the ones which werent limited in no.s? Suppose they r still...
Have been taking a look at a clio16v today, and went to check under the oil filler cap, but couldnt get the ruddy thing off! Am I losing my strength or what?!
Does anyone get this? why does it do it?
Feels like some baxtered has superglued it.
Was just wondering if European Imported cars will cost more to insure, and whether there would be difficulties getting parts for it (or does it depend on what car it is?)
Thanx
Is the brown dust as a direct result of the spray job? or is it a sign of accident damage, so it needs a spray job?
Its deffo had a respray. As theyve resprayed the plastic grille bit too.
Shall I avoid this car like the plague?
Right, theres this clio16v Ive been looking at, and inside the car there seems to be a lot of brown coloured dust all over the front half of the car which seems to have come from the air vents....basically is this an indication that someone might have had it off road, or is it just something...
Ok, Ive gone back to the car dealer (Hes actually an old school mate) and Ive managed to knock the price down of the 16v (92J, FSH, 107k) to £1500 with my 205 as p/ex, and hes giving me 10months warranty. Is this an ok deal? Still deciding between the two!!
Ok, not in order of preference, but
1. Golf mk1 GTI - I probably wouldnt ever own one, but its still the Grandaddy of hot hatches...it was the golf that got the ball rolling .
2. 205 GTi 1.6 or 1.9 - Well, I have one, and love it to bits!! It took the golf gtis formula, and improved it...
I like the valver for its (slightly) better build quality, high revving, and great looks...but I just cant ignore the craziness of the R5 - the violently quick performance, and the sound of an aftermarket zorst, when you ease of the gas is fantastic, snap-crackle-and-pop!
Its either trade my...
Originally, the intention was to get a more modern car to replace the 205, with the performance and driving to match, and the possibility of a turbo being desirable. But thats changed over the past few months, as my budget has been diminishing slowly as I spend it on a variety of useless things...
Im guessing that the 16v cams cost more because, theres two cams to replace rather than one.
The thing is though, would a GTT be more inclined to blow up?
A clio with a GTT engine? I suppose that way Id get the best of both worlds?
Not really...the only thing that would deter me from getting a GTT is the reliability of the old pushrod engines, hence why I am considering a 16v.
I suppose I could always turbo the 16v if I wanted turbo power?!
The GTT is 1200 squid. The clio is 1700 squid.
The 16v is more modern, with a stronger engine I guess, but is it more fun? Ive known quite a few people to sell their valvers for a GTT.
Anyone with a GTT on here?
Hello again!
Am a bit closer to buying a car, and its basically down to the two aforementioned cars. I know its a clio forum, but I thought Id attempt to get an unbiased opinion nonetheless.
The R5 is in good condition, owned by an elderly guy, and hes replaced all the running gear etc...
Oh! Hello, we meet again Carl!
I suppose when you live in sparsely populated areas, you have to travel, as I well know, living in Norfolk.
I definately understand how you feel, when youve travelled a distance to look at a car, and its not quite what was expected, but because of the distance...
Rajk has kindly offered to check out a clio with me around the North West, or West London area...but unfortunately Im from Norwich, which is in the middle of nowhere.
When I discuss with some peeps about a car with 9 owners, they usually say "walk away" and "its been clocked". Although it may...
Would any of you buy a car which has had 9 owners? Im guessing it would be detrimental to its resale value.
I swear decent valvers, 91-93, are still being sold for £2000 around Norwich.
To convert your 1.8 valver to a 2.0, do you get it bored out? or is it easier to source a 2.0 lump to fit in...
...and what sort of price are we looking at?
Thanks, Kai
Crikey! Theres a lot of Bens on the forum!
...anyway, thanks for the feedback, Ill have a lookie round to see if I can find cheaper. The garage had the car for sale @ 2295. Checked the Parkers guide, it said it should be around 1795, but Parkers are fairly harsh with their prices.
I am very...
