Thanks very - so I assume better oil pressure and that a tolerance of 0.075 is ok for a competition engine. Is the 197 closer to a R3 spec as such the tolerance is mid range?

Is there a difference in oil pressure / oil way design between the 1*2 and the 197 engines?
I’m running a 197 unit in my 182, never ran an oil pressure gauge just a higher rated warning switch - never had any issues in 8 years of rallying - just been lucky?

Reading on here I understand that the 182 Cup stub axles have a thicker base on them to widen the track.
My car has been modified so not sure which I have, the base plate is about 19mm thick, are these the std or 182 cup ones? Are there just two sizes?

Hi anyone know what the outer CV boot is off on the Clio 3 racer. I understand the Sadev shafts / joints are actually made by GKN motorsport division but just trying to find out what the boots are off, can't imagine they are specials must be some van or 4 x 4. They are 90 and 28mm diameter.

Ran a supply direct from battery and a dedicated earth, and just the same, works with fan connected but not turned on, turn fan on (setting 1 ,2 or 3) and voltage jumps to 12v. If the fan is disconnected and then turned on jumps to 8v on setting 1 and 11v on 2 and 3 speed settings.

Done a bit more testing, even more confused.
Right with the internal fan switch off the 12v to 5v converter gives a 5v supply, with the fan switch off but fan itself unplugged it gives a 11v output. With the fan still unplugged but internal switch on any setting get 12v instead of 5v. Any...

Hi not one for posting threads but few people on here have been very helpful while I very slowly built my new rally car, never had a Clio before this, so I thought I would just post a few bits of info and a pic to prove the engine does fit in :-)

Hi Chip - yea I've put in a 197 without having to cut the leg, I am using the sadev box though so not sure if its any shorter, will measure it if you want. I used the Pure Motorsport pulley's as they are much narrower (4px) rather than the standard 197 being 7 or 8, which gives about 5 to 8mm...
It was an easy decision on the size of ITB's - the ones i had on a self in the garage :)
Engine as steel rod and pistons upgrade and a set of cat cams, everything else standard.
Will see how competitive it is before considering any further upgrades.

Thanks all, think i understand it a lot better - ive got the engine started in basic mode so i can run the engine in, will do the rest of the wiring and book it in to the rolling rd to get the sequential injection, dephaser and flat shift set up.
