I’ve got an issue with mine where the temp needle barely moves above the first or second line and the heaters don’t blow hot air - this is always when the temp outside is about 5 deg or less. Why do you think this is?
I’m also up in Scotland and looking to get the timing belt etc done. Did you get group N timing done at SWR in Stirling (just wondering since you mentioned the car sounds awesome?)?
Also, did you end up getting it mapped afterwards and if so, what map did you get and was it worth it?
cheers.
I found out (with lots of help from the forum members!!) that it was one of the injectors which had stopped working. Ordered up x4 new OEM injectors from Renparts and installed today. Car running great and much smoother idle with them and the proper NGK plugs installed.
Had a dog bone mount...
Update… so I splashed out on a new spark plug and stuck that into cylinder 2 (from drivers side). Made no difference. So I unplugged the injector for the same cylinder and no change. Unplugged the other injectors and a definite change in engine note.
Sooo… now it’s a case of replacing all 4...
I guess it could be the injector but since all I’ve been messing about with is the spark plugs/leads, then it should be them I’m guessing. But obviously I’m no expert!!
Okay… so are you saying I definitely need to change the injectors or what next steps need to be taken?
Should I try to clean the sooty plug first and see if that resolves things?
I was changing out the spark plugs with new NGK items and stupidly connected the HT leads into the coil pack in the wrong order. When I started up the car, it idled roughly and then a pop sound came from the exhaust before I quickly switched off the engine. Total engine running time probably...
It turns out that the brand new 2nd plug in from the drivers side is completely black… probably since when I first connected the HT leads to the plugs, they were connected in the wrong order and when I started the car it ran rough and there was a pop from the exhaust - obviously I switched off...
Made some progress on fitting the following:
- New NGK spark plugs
- New inlet manifold gasket
- New studs and nuts for fixing the injector cover on
Problem is that now everything is back together, it is misfiring as if running on 3 cylinders… Ps I have confirmed that the HT leads are...
Quick question @ frayz … how did you remove the original nuts / fixings holding the heat shields on? I’m guessing the threads must be really badly rusted on the majority of Clio 182’s by now so what’s the solution if the fixings don’t back off?
Managed to get a 10mm spanner on there from below and backed it off without any issue. Will replace with new from Renault when it arrives. Might get the cover vapour blasted to tidy the engine bay up a little.
Anyone know of the best way to remove the right hand side stud which is there to hold on the alloy injector cover? Anything I need to be careful/aware of when removing?
(As you can see, some nugget has over tightened the nut and it has snapped the end of the stud off. I’ve ordered a new one to...
Thanks for your help guys! Started up the car this morning and light is still on but running normal. I’ve ordered up new NGK plugs and will fit this weekend 👍🏻
Ok cheers for sharing!! The plugs are actually Bosch plugs and I’ve been meaning to change them out for NGK items so that’s what I’ll do and see if it cures the issue 👍🏻
The strut towers and up the sides of the front wings. Obviously there would have been splashes going everywhere but not high volumes of water and at low pressure since it was just the end of a hose I used.
