Dont think a standard 1.4 is goin to be even close to hitting the lmiter in 5th! So by decat and good induction you might see a VERY slight increase in top speed.
Dont see any point myself, stick the money in the bank and put it towards something faster in the future.
Try dent devils, only ones I know of who arent hit and miss. All technicians are trained for three months and MUST be competent before theyre allowed to carry out repairs. More than I can say for some others. They did a very good job on my old motor after it was f**ked by chips away!
Phoned and e-mailed LAD when I owned a 106 gti for info on the 160 conversion. After visiting the website and reading reviews I was dead set on getting it done. After one phone call I knew they were cowboys! Asked them exactly what the did, Reply was headwork! HTF can you get a 40bhp increase...
The gti is a great car, you get used to the cramped driving position very quickly. If you get a 98 S Reg or newer you get the half leather interior. Wouldnt buy a vts now as even though you can buy it cheaper than a gti, when you go to sell it in a couple of years youll struggle and get peanuts...
If you combine this with a 4-1 tubular manifold and good cold air induction kit you should get good gains. (Did on my old 106 gti anyway) Lets your engine breathe a lot better and gets the exhaust gases out quicker.
Does work but make sure whoever does it gets all the honeycomb out. I tried it on my 106 but ended up going back a few days later cause there were bits of the platinum sh*t rattlin around and made my car sound like a bag of nails! Gives slightly better top end cause theres less back pressure but...
