lol, no I didn't see that thread! That seems to clear it up re the diff then. I knew what grade oil I needed but wasn't sure what type. It appears the rear diff is mechanical, not plate, so I know now which of the Millers CRX to go for then ie the cheaper CRX 75W-90 NT not the more expensive LS...
My forester came with the same Hella horns in the grill. Must be a Subaru thing!? They weren't connected so I took them off. I wander how loud they are?
Nice one mate, but trust me I've searched hard! :) It doesn't have dccd, it is a constant symetrical AWD system. It's a 2004 2.5 sti, 280 bhp and has the 6 speed gearbox, and from what I've read it does have lsd's front and back. I think they have the suretrak lsd in the rear too but not sure...
Basically an impreza underneath it all. Really hard to find technical information about them though which is a bit annoying. Long shot, but anyone know what diff and gearbox oil I need? :)
I'm a very patient person but one thing I just can't deal with is waiting to pick up a new car!
Btw, any idea of what prep/servicing Torque GT do with their imports? Or does it vary a lot? I'm due it's first service since coming from Torque GT but not sure how far I should go? Think of taking...
Pretty much standard. Has a turbo timer, twin cone air filters and i thinkthe exhaust is from an impreza sti. Other than that as it came from the factory. Was imported by torque GT last august. Current owner now says feels he'd rather bought a legacy.
As from this Saturday, a wr blue Forester sti SG9!
It's not a pretty car but that's part of it's charm. I don't know why but I've always wanted one. Certainly looking forward to the 400 mile drive back from Edinburgh in it on Saturday! :)
There is so much I need to learn that I think if I try to make my own decision on what to go for it will probably end up being the wrong one. Haha
I've not really got enough driving experience under my belt (not driven anything supercharged before, and turbo is limited) to know exactly what...
I don't want smooth delivery, I like a good kick in the arse :) Although I see your point!
I really need to do a lot more investigation into supercharging etc, but is power delivery always very linear? Or, can this be manipulated with mapping or different types of charger perhaps?
You can convert an Avon to a GTA quite easily. They do a conversion kit which just involves adding the mounts for the body, that's it, everything else is the same.
They are one of the smaller outfits in the kit car world, but produce some lovely machines, like the Tiger Era. Although they did once hold the 0-60 record in a twin bike engined car called the z100.

The seats are actually westfield seats so there probably isn't that much in it, but every little helps trust me! I am very, very snug in there and I am very slim at just over 10 st and 5'9".
They are based on the Avon which is quite a popular one, exactly the same chassis ect just different body. Although, the body was only designed in 2012 so most are still in the build process. Although, for some reason it hasn't proven to be very popular just yet so yeah, not many around or...
Well, after some lovely drives out in it these last few weeks, and a good blast with my friends Spire GTR (pictured above), which tbf is a fair bit quicker than my GTA, I have decided that it does in fact deserve more power.
This is where having an mx5 based kit car has the advantage over the...
Tiger say that they weigh 600kgs with the ford zetec engine in which is pretty much identical to this mazda engine, which would make this 240 bhp/tonne :)
Thanks you two. Yeah it's a 1.8 mx5 engine (mk2) so a little bit underpowered compared to some of the other kit cars, but is still seriously fun! There aren't many of these GTA's around at all although there is one with an s2000 engine. I can't even imagine how much fun that will be!
I had...
At the beginning of this year I fancied something fast to use as a weekend car/take to work on nice days and to also perhaps break my trackday cherry in. However, I didn't want something that will depreciate too much and doesn't have high running costs. I really did want an evo but that doesn't...
Might go to a sprint or two at Curborough this year. Don't know if you can call that racing but for my budget and the rather major factor being that I don't have a race license that is probably the closest I will come to racing.
Whatever I do, though, I will be doing it in my Tiger GTA mazda...
I've pussied out of the idea of using my daily 182 as a trackday car so I have just bought this to scratch my itch. Hope to see some of the cars posted in here on track this year!
wtf happened there !? ^ ^ lol There is no safer place than the railway arch, we are surrounded by monstrous 400 year old trees that I was worrying would also get uprooted. I must say I was getting a bit paranoid last night worrying that our 400 year old acacia tree was going to come crashing...
Terrible winds here right now! Blown our silver birch reet out of the ground and onto our wall and on top of the neighbours mazda and their new mini cooper! I must say I got off rather lightly! The only branches that were touching my car were only touching the rear window. Pleased to say I don't...
Yes, you should probably go with the 182 cup shocks on the rear just to match the 172 cup shocks on the front. Same setup that I have btw, you wont be disappointed! :)
Told my mate of your misfortune and he said he actually saw a Williams today at about 2pm hammering it between Newport and audley end! Im hoping that you have recovered it and that that was you driving?
s**t, I'm sorry to hear this man! That must be gutting!
I see this everyday on the drive into work. I wish I could have caught the b******s in the act, I must have driven past it not long before/after it happened, about 5.30am? I probably would have stopped if I saw someone moving it as well...
lol, I like your optimism. I was the same in my first few weeks of Alfa ownership. But seriously, forget about all the horror stories re reliability and just enjoy it and drive it how an Italian would! btw, I've never had any electrical problems with any of the Alfa's I've owned, all of the...
