Literally been just out abusing the car and using it for what I built it for.
All working perfectly still.
We made an unplanned purchase of a mobile chicane so have washed the Clio up and tucked it in garage while I sort the tow car.
Tell I am 30 this year with a caravan haha.
The mobile...
Well that's all the wiring finished with AEM unit mounted under the glovebox.
Boost gauge I couldn't decide where to mount with it still being stealth then had a stroke of genius haha.....
The silver 2 buttons are for boost alarm setup and the larger hole displays the reading.
Also got my...
Well another day and we are still off work so a nice drive about up the coast and then back again.
Fitted the breather catch can this morning and think it's quite neat. Just need black hose and not keen on the red.
Turns out it's also fun winding Porsche drivers up as well..... Hahaha...
Cheers
The link pipe is the SB Worx unit and has an adjustable lower flange so can rotate it to line up with exhaust easier. That clamp locks the lower flange in place.
Happy with the new ride height. Similar to before but now doesn't squat as much on boost.
No deterioration in comfort but handling is superb with the Bilstein B14's.
Coilpack didn't solve erratic running off boost when hot and with a P0130 code logged this backed up Lambda being at fault so...
Nice few hours working on the Clio.
It is nice and relaxing working in the garage now it's all done out.
- Bilstein B14 coilovers on with powerflex rear top bushes and camber bolts.
- Pure Motorsport non cambered 10mm rear hub spacers
- Renault rear discs and pads with new bearings and abs...
Fingers crossed. Planning Sports Cars in the Park again so hopefully see you there
Cheers
Thanks mate. Got to admit am happy with my work
It is indeed haha. Not quite same level as my Impreza but still fun to hear
Tell me about it, have to watch myself now lmao
You should really have a...
Cheers for all the comments, still laughing about the extinguisher haha.
Had car out everyday bar 1 since conversion clicking up miles and only issue appears to be a rogue Lambda sensor so got one on order.
Am off for another week or so - planning to get coilovers, new rear brakes and non...
Well a little story of the last 24 hours for me & @matty1995
Last night we tried doing the first fire up but were greeted with immobiliser light on solid and not trying to turn over. Checked over and found fuse in engine bay tripped (15A). Only had a 20A so replaced it & was greeted to smoke...
I had the opportunity for an hour in the garage and even better my brother came round in his trophy to help @matty1995
So we now have turbo bolted on fully, downpipe fitted and when he left I spent half an hour removing aircon rad and mounting the intercooler......
Also had to mount radiator...
Well another short spell between Christmas running around and managed to sort a few more bits.
- Vac lines ran in
- Wiring complete to AEM unit
- Boost gauge piped and wired in
Need an extra pair of hands for lining up downpipe and some smaller arms to get to underside bolts on manifold. So...
Another hour or 2 in the garage today.....
- Ecu is back from engine dynamics
- made up 13 core wiring loom for piggyback ecu
- Megane plugs in set at 0.9mm
- Megane injectors in
- started mocking up more of the pipework
Also picked up some new magnecors for th rebuild time.
Well a nice chilled few jobs progressed as not waiting for arse pieces fancy sump bolts......
- Turbo is loosely mounted with new gasket
- All coolant lines in and coolant replaced as well as bottle replaced
- Oil lines all ran in
- Breather setup started but want to move it
- Sump replaced...
Started earlier than expected with the turbo conversion.
Cut the 182 manifold off to save time and got the sump off as well.
I have drilled and tapped the block for the oil return and have started on the heatshield.
The engine is lifted around 80mm in the engine bay so the sump can be done...
I like the EPAS, turn it up for normal town driving and down to get a decent steering feel for fun driving.
The belt comes off creak and over water pump before going round altern.
If anyone is doing the same EPAS conversion as me check the clearance off the top of the crack pulley to the block.
Now on a PK4 850 and alot more room.
Mine was quite close and did rub slightly, I had a noise which I assumed was that but wasnt.....
My 16mm socket had fallen in next to the...
Yeah was actually easier as manged to get a spanner on properly rather than just the flats.
If you try an open ended spanner you will probably round the fittings as they are well in there haha.
Flare spanner if not cutting pipes
I couldn't be bothered to save them so used a junior hacksaw at each point and chopped them out. Much easier haha
They can be taken out complete just a pain that's all
More days off so managed to crack on....
All working first attempt with no issues upto now.
Love the variation and means you can still have excellent steering feel.
Have also replaced the HVAC controls to one without ac button and also fitted a non sticky dash top as breaking my daily Dci...
Will be next week then I test it hopefully. Got the upper column to change and wire it all in
Cheers, means won't get the issues with steering fluid boiling over haha
Simon has done an amazing job of the paintwork. Really impressive.
Turbo should be going on over my Christmas holidays...
