Yeah he always sells his cars pretty quickly after completing the project. The TT did manage to stick around longer than all his previous big turbo cars though.
His GTR project is very interesting
UPDATE:
Ive had the car back for a while now, but been too busy enjoying it in all my spare time. Its 97 percent complete I have been busy running in the engine motorsport style and generally getting used to it. It requires one last visit for the VWR air intake to be fitted and a general final...
Haha no not anywhere near the cost of the car. Lets put it this way, it costs less to buy a TTRS new and do this to it than it would be to buy a new GTR.
We became friends through the VAG tuning scene, we were both tuning 2.0tfsi then when the TTRS came out we both had to have one. Jonny did...
I think you would need to be very careful now where and when you can use that power, as it covers ground so quickly, plus on a damp or wet road it will spin all 4 wheels at 70mph.
before at 400hp you could use the power pretty much most of the time, now there's extra responsibility I suppose.
To bring things up to date, car was meant to have been ready by now but ran into some slight difficulties.
But my good friend jonnys car was ready and he got some figures off his. Our cars are of identical spec apart from the cylinder head.
660hp on v-power
0-60 in 2.8
100-200km/h in 5.8...
Made some changes on hardware spec. Hopefully have a carbon carbon clutch sooner than later.
Also ordered a new intercooler, will be the third one now.

The silver one? I think it is.
Yeah could very well have, I think it was a TTOC meetup that day.
Thanks, truth is the leon is still my favourite car ive ever owned. Maybe its because i was 19 at the time and had alot of good memories in that car with all my mates bundled in but it always...
Proper tidy car mate!
Just been reading through start to finish.
Quick question though, if just under 600hp is your aim, how comes you used such a big turbo? A gtx3076r would give about the same power but spool alot earlier? Or am I missing something with scoobies?
this car makes me cry, VW realised their hot hatch prices where getting out of hand so its good to see that the next generation of their hot metal have either got cheaper or atleast not more expensive.
Ahh yes jonny is in the same boat as me atm. Both cars are off the road due to waiting for our uprated clutch and flywheels. Jonnys clutch kept slipping at 1.4 bar of boost, so around 530hp, and the turbo on his will probably be run at around 2.1-2.2 bar so its got a hell of alot of potential in...
Engines all done and finished. Also had some parts superfinished, never got any pics of it, so I'll borrow this pic of my friend jonnyc so people can see what it looks like. Nice and shiny!
Superfinished crank.
Next immediate step right now is strengthning the gearbox.
So its being split...

Ive also made some extra progress on the weight saving. These recaro pole positions are 13kg with sidemounts and runners. The OEM seats are about 34kg, so a saving of 21kg per seat.

And Drive/Tuned did a review of the APR US development car in the States.
