I am having my cambelt and Aux belts on my 182 changed next week I keep hearing mixed reports as to whether or not I should be having the water pump replaced at the same time. Just wondered what peoples opinions were

Thats what they said, it makes me wonder whether I should stand there for 6 hours to make sure they change what they say they are going to change.

Just been qouted £585 all in for everything by Renault in Leeds Evans Halshaw, and they said they would either drop me at work and pick me up, or give me a car FOC. They said the waterpump was only an extra £10, is it work doing it for that?

Thanks Fred I will try find out if its had the AUX kit done or just the belt, im sure Renault should know. The £699 was for the Cambelt and Aux belt kit, but now I have rung someone else and they say I have to have the water pump changed aswell and qouted me £750. Im even more confused now

Hi can I just ask why I should have the Aux belt kit even if it has allready been done only a year ago? I have just rung my local Renault Dealer and they qouted £699 for the full kit inclusive of VAT. I dont know what to do now.

Was that by a renault dealer / specialist? That seems like a good price to me.

Not sure, its just stamped in the book by a renault dealer to say that the aux belt was changed. Im thinking I best check now that it is definatley the Timing belt kit and not just the timing belt that they are fitting for that price.

Not sure about tensioners (thought they were in the cambelt kit?) but the aux belt has allready been done, so its just the Cambelt.

As for tyres, I have just put 2 new Uniroyal rainsport 2's on my 182 and they are brilliant especially in the wet. They were only around £80 each fitted, from Motorsport wheels in Seacroft Leeds.

Exactly the same happened on my Golf TDI when I had one about 5 years ago. Caused quite a lot of damage to the Engine too. Apparently the dealers said they had never heard of it happening!

If I were you I would still report him to the police regardless of him being a neighbour. Its a criminal offence for him not to report an accident within 24 hours, and if you dont tell the police and something goes wrong with the claim, your going to be out of pocket. Dont let these idiots...

Cool thanks for your help Chapperz. It does seem Renault dealers are very expensive, I was driving an 06 plate Impreza STI for the last two years, and the servicing and repair costs were cheaper than on this 182, basically because there built properly and dont go wrong. LOL

My alarm on my 182 is constantly going off throughout the night, and its becoming extremley annoying. Has anyone had similar problems? Renault Dealer wants £80 just to diagnose the fault, but id rather just disconnect the alarm, or take a hammer to it, LOL. On a serious note, does...

All the doors are definatley shut when it does it. Its a wierd one. The alarm went off 3 times last night so im guessing its faulty. Does anyone know how to switch off the interior sensors?

What does it mean when you lock the doors with the FOB and the alarm chirps 3 times? It only does it some times when I am locking the car. IIRC the hazard lights dont flash either when it bleeps, only when it locks normally. Its a 182 05 plate.

When removing the old Renaultsport badge to replace with the new one, is there holes in the bodywork? Are there holes behind the CLIO badge, as id like to remove that completley

Where can i get a set of front pads for the 182 without goint to renault? Are they easy enough to fit, ive done other cars of mine before so have general knowledge of DIY. Thanks
