Thanks @CJM.
According to the guy who has the gear box out of the car, it doesn't have a spedo. he sent me a picture of the code on it which I have attached but it appears to read - JCS 130 C 002725
Outstanding @CJM - Much appreciated. To be honest, I'm not sure exactly what type I'm after however it's going into a :
Year: 2002
Make: RENAULT
Model: CLIO
Colour: Silver
Submodel: SPORT RS 2.0 3DR M P
VIN: VF1CB150G27369342
@Budgie & @CJM - would either of you be able to recommend someone who can ship me a replacement gearbox? I've given up looking for one locally and have concluded I need to import my own.
Thanks CJM - appreciate that. So working on £200 for shipping, presumably it will be several hundred £ to buy the transmission, i'm up for several thousand NZ$, more than what I paid for the entire car. Might be time for an upgrade!
Anyone want me to sell me a 200? ;)
Okay - thanks good tip. By the time I go to the effort of organising that and getting it shipped over, I might just end up getting a 200 shipped over ;)
Matt W - Apologies I never responded. For some reason I haven't got any notifications from ClioSport.net - anyway fixed now.
I live in Raglan and drive to Auckland and back a couple times a week - check the route : https://goo.gl/maps/KnvQQ
Thanks all for the reply - I didn't see all these responses so apologies for the late response. Really appreciate everyones input.
I ended up buying a genuine kit from Renault NZ (NZ$600 ~£290 - Renault Parts are expensive here!)
Unfortunately, now the garage is telling me it's not the...
The clutch on my 172 mk2 failed yesterday and I need to have it replaced. I need to pay someone to do it as I don't have the skills or time.
Local garage is quoting me NZD $1400 for the kit and the work but they are using an aftermarket kit, local Renault deal will use authentic Renault part but...
Thanks Filippo,
Sorry I should have elaborated, I have driven the 197, just not under what I consider 'real driving conditions' ...just around the city and motorway, not on a track or backroad. I'm not going to have the opportunity to do so before making a decision on this car.
Hi all,
First post to Clio Sport but long time RS driver. Awesome Forum!
I've currently got a phase 2 172 from 2002 with 180,000 KMs' on it. It owes me almost nothing and is going strong. I love driving it and would only replace it with something very similar.
Recently I've got a line on a...
Having lusted after a Clio Sport for many years, I finally own one (for the past 6 months), a 2002 172. It's got 160kms on the clock and I put about 1500km's a month on it, mostly on empty twisty back roads that it just eats up.
now I have a 172, all I want is a 200!
