Back in Sept 2014, I decided to start writing about my experiences whilst pursuing these projects-and started Fu'Gutty cars..
I'd be interested in your thoughts and opinions re the articles produced so far..
The blog can be found here(previous articles back to sept 2014 are in the archive)...
Cheers-yeah have been looking for a stock one, but this one is currently solid and not too noisy so not the most pressing issue.
Be better using the funds for getting thw bumpers and bonnet done
Thanks;) i would like ownership, but i'm merely employed to look after her. If i can find a cheap...
She's been off the road since april waiting on her owner doing something about the clutch..
Picked her up yesterday-back to fighting fitness!
I wrote a blog about her on my car site, feel free to have a gander:)

Hi, just done a write up on Babette, my Burd's 172 Exclusive.
Its been off the road since April this year due to clutch issues, and just came back yesterday.
https://fuguttycars.wordpress.com/2014/12/22/christmas-clutch-cheeriness-for-the-clio-aka-babette-lives/
I was sceptical when we got her...
Time for an update:
Babette has done 3500 miles with us so far, and averaged 38.5 mpg:) Best tank has been 42.5mpg, and she returned 39.5mpg on a hoon up round Fort William with no hanging about..
She's needed no further work, and the Rainsport 2's are well bedded in- the grip in the cold...
Belts done at CWR in Stirling- good service and a good price. She needed an engine mount too, so that was done at the same time.
My code reader also seems to work, so all is well.
Now to actually use her!
Car is in for belts at the moment- just had a call from the boy at SWR.
Apparently the main engine mount was in 2 when they took it apart.
Is this a common failure? Where can I get a replacement from?
He's quoting £87inc vat for a genuine renault one- but wont have it in stockat the dealers...
New plugs installed- car a happy thing now..
Also Rainsport 2's fitted at the front- makes a big difference- ride is better and grip is good- reckon they'll bed in even better
In for its belts Wed next week, after that I can see a nice long run out on the Saturday- get her down some backroads:)
update on this lil beastie..
New coilpack and leads fitted, New plugs should be here tomorrow.
She'll be in for new tyres later this week(uniroyal rainsport2 I think) then getting her belts done the week after.
bought a code reader/clearer too so I Can see whatever she pops up..
Think you're maybe geting confused?
OP's car is on lowering springs, as is mine..
I want mine back to just about stock height- I think the Pro-Kit gives what I'm after?
Apols to the OP for the OT!
Cheers
I'm looking to raise the ride height- its currently too low- both for her work carpark speedbumps and the entrance to our street. Sounds like the pro-kit ones may be the ticket. the car is low at the moment
Are the Pro- Kit eibachs any good? The 172 could do with slightly softer and higher suspension- the speedbumps at the Lady's work are causing problems
whats the hold up with the cooksport ones?heard good reviews of them on here
Cheers! According to her keeper, I've to maintain her as stock..If I had my way she'd be on banded steelies!
Apologies, but I prefer the BBS (80s german car fans are pretty predictable!) Rest of the car looks fooking lovely though!
Hope to get this one up to a similar standard:)
Think 148 is no more:

The interior is actually Grey leather- think the phone flash has made it lighter than it is..
thanks for the tip on SWR- they seem to be £380 for the belts. Just going to ask them if it covers everything inc the dephaser
thanks:) Lovely little car, fooking quick too (said as someone who is more of a bmw 6pot fiend)
cheers, noted! straight to the top of the "Mods-U-Like" list
Hi!
I'm a noob here, and first couple of posts were about a missfire on this car. Thankfully its sorted (note to self, do not wash the engine!:quiet:)
This is the burd's new daily.. Hope you like it (I lost a day washing, claying and waxing..hard work as first car I've ever done!)...
Well, got the sparkplugs out (used it as an excuse to buy a new socket set:) )
Gave them a clean up on a wire wheel and popped them back in.
Reconnected the battery and started it.
Immediately was running better, and a few short runs to let it re-learn ecu settings, then out for a 5...
