As above really, how much difference, performance wise, will i notice if i remove the interior, and which bits should i remove?

My heater only works on number 1 and very occasionally i can get it to work on number 3. I have replaced the control panel on the dashboard and the multiplug that plugs into it. My next thought would be the rheostat but i dont know where it is yet, any ideas on that? Any more suggestions?
