http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?726405-1-5-DCI-engine-swap-which-ECU

engines all in wired up etc, engine turns up but will not fire at all.

No flashy lights on the dash, imob light goes out.
Fuel is getting to the injectors
Glowplugs are glowing
i've double checked my timing:S
tried with the camshaft sensor un-plugged
it's a brand new battery and earth's are all good

any idea's people?

Had a quick read of the other thread...are you sure the injectors you're using just now are working properly with the car's ECU? Might need to use the original ones that were matched with your ECU

It should fire on non coded injectors having done that myself many times
the c2i codes are purely for fine control of injection

does turn over or turn over and chunder like it's trying to fire up? injector plugs all on correct injectors not no 4 on 3 and no3 on 4 ?

how would I get the fuel temp reading?

I'm fairly confident the injectors are working correctly, as they have been cleaned and tested. Also the other clio which i basically swapped engines with runs perfectly

Does it run on something like easi-start when sprayed into the inlet?

Don't run it and run it on this stuff as you may damage the engine. This test is purely to see if it's a fuel issue.

My movano won't start without easystart and even then it cuts out at random. . Think its a lost cause so will have to stay in Bulgaria :(

Needs clip or a diag machine. I had a kangoo k9k that wouldnt start a while back, fuel temp sensor was reading 600 degrees, i unplugged it and it started straight away. Its located on the pump.

I suspect air in the fuel system at the minute myself but the FTS is becoming a common one as the vehicles get older.

I've been through the whole bleeding the system dance a few times now, there is a few air bubbles in the blue return pipe guessing this is the normal?

brown is metering valve, green is temp on the k9k delphi pump.

put abit of easy start down the intake ( or brake cleaner ) and try fire it up. hold the revs below 2k if it starts up, this should run all the air out.

leave it on idle after for a while.

Did you just use the priming bulb and have you cracked the fuel lines at the injector whilst cranking?

Don't run it on easi-start in an enclosed space. The fumes are REALLY BAD FOR YOU so make sure you are well ventilated or else someone will be finding you on the floor!

as mick said will burn lungs so be carefull.

dont go putting s**t loads of easystart down it either or you'll have a run off!

Will suggest this to them, cheers ;)

had it on a master van before. would struggle to start. it ran after cranking whilst waiting for the fat lady to sing.
drove around find for a while and then cut out, started up again and the died a few mins later. refused to start after that.

swapped the pump and jobs a goodn.

injectors are common to leak on those aswell, hair line crack inside on the body- will either fault code ' injection fault' or become a pig to start.

as are the fuel lines or in tank lifter clogged or leaking at the rubber seals in the quick connectors.

chi, i would suggest asking them to find a clean drum or 25L truckwash type tub, fill it with diesel ( make sure its clinicly clean first )
get two lengths of fuel hose ( careful what hose as most will colapse under the HP pumps sucking force ) and try running it off that , see how it goes and if it runs fine without cutting out, its a delivery from tank to pump issue.

Fantastic cheers for the advice. . I'm getting hopeful after throwing in the towel.

Right fella's got the clio running after cleaning the TDC sensor, new fuel filter and some easy start took a bit to get it running but it did eventually.
However!! the Aux belt was squealing like hell just having a quick look the Alternator might be stuck and the belt is just being forced round as it started to smoke as well the belt that is! also the stop light was flashing and the glowplug light was on. Does that tie in with it being an Alternator fault?

Does the alternator spin by hand? If no it's fucked and you really should stop running it.

found the problem with the Alt, the casing had a crack in it so when you bolted it up it sat "sque" thus locking it solid!
new alternator bought now

well after much swearing and going back and forth it's looking like the bottom end is shagged on this engine sadly! as it knocks like hell and is pissing oil out from just below the crankshaft pulley!
so they could be a newly refurbished hybrid turbo and cylinder head up for grabs along with loads of other parts soon

You sure it's not the injectors making the engine sound rough?
Youd hear it knocking trying to turn it over without the injectors plugged in.

the injectors have been cleaned and pressure tested etc.
haven't tried turning it over with the injectors unplugged. but it does spill a lot of oil out from crank pulley after only running for 30-40 seconds there is a pool on the floor about the size of a dinner plate!

has it had bottom end work?

if its pissing it out it out here, it needs a bottom end seal refresh. which by the time you take the sump off, i recon you'll have a fucked crank if you say its knocking.

probs time to sorce a second hand engine, transfer your pump and injectors, new cambelt and slap it it.
