17s on a 1.2, what damage?



  V6 engined Mk3 Astravan
Hi people, at the moment im running 17s on my mk1 1.2 clio, but a mate told me that this is likely to fcuk my car up big time mechanicaly, is there any truth in this? any help/advice would be great,

if theres no rubbing on the arches etc. i'd say you'd be fine but saying that i ain't no mechanic, how long you been running them? maybe hes just jelous of your big rims :)

Not alot. maybe wear out the odd wheel bearing. Theres been 18s on mine for a year and no damage yet.

you ball joints and wheel bearings will wear quicker thats it really.

just make sur eyou get em checked regularly, then you wont fail the mot on what is essentially a cheap part ;)

my cars bein on a mixture of 17s and 18s from new and its 7 years old now.

It literally left the dealer forcourt, and went to the localwheel shop for some 18s thatvery day, or so the service history suggests

as if 18s withtyres were £1700 back in 1999 lol
