18 Month Orange Contract (Chance of an Upgrade after 12 months?)

  Mondeo STTDCI
Does anyone know if I can get an upgrade or not from the f*****s as I stupidly signed up to 18 months to get a slightly better deal. I've 6 months to run!

Thanks

I got an eighteen month contract with vodafone i could only upgrade after 16 months which was s**t tbh!.

You'd have to pay the remaining 6months off I would have thought.

Depending on how good a customer you are, they might let you.

yes you can but you have to pay an upgrade fee on your phone, but its a fee on top of the actual phone upgrade fee.

So say the phone you wanted was £50 for an upgrade, depending on how long you have left and how much you spend with them they will charge another fee, can be £50-£150 though I think.

If you have your account on the Orange website or go to the upgrade section once logged in you can see how much the upgrade fee is for upgrading early as they will tell you online, its normally not a nice figure though Dave. I have always resisted in the past, I have just finished an 18 month contract and it didn't seem that much of a problem really, i had a good phone so didn't really care.

I'm less bothered about phones than I ever have been TBH and after 5 years of getting a new one every so often realised that if doesnt really matter. I just hate the fact that they are such f**king money grabbing b******s!

You might be able to change after 15 months, not sure about after 12.

They won't let me change to the dolphin plan as I signed up to an 18 month contract the week before dolphin was announced.

Proper dirty trick by them IMO, offered a lot of people early upgrades to stick them on 18 month contracts so that they couldn't change to dolphin when it was announced.

I know what you mean Dave, I get my free upgrade after 12mths has done on my contract, sell the upgrade on CS or ebay (prefer on here tbh) and then jsut use my old nokia brick.

the money selling offsets the yearly cost and i just haggle for more minutes/texts and lower line rental. Not normally that bothered about the upgrade, just get what ever seems to sell well on ebay etc.

You get 14days to cancel.

I signed up to a higher one and phoned and said I wanted to change to Dolphin. She said it wasnt possible. I told her to save the hassle of me cancelling, sending the phone back and then starting a new contact and them sending me the same phone again, they might aswel let me. and they did.

Im on a 18 month dolphin contract and not botherd really because if i want a new phone ill buy one off of ebay and put my sim in.

My deal is great for me but after my contract ends i will get my code which will allow me to take my number to another network as i dont want another 18 month contract and feel other networks offer better deals than orange and also ill get my new contract online.

I got my deal from phones4u they said after 12 months come in and we will buy the remaining months off of you but i doubt they will if i tell them i want to get one online but ill stick it out if they dont accept.

I didn't realise until a few weeks after though, that was the problem, I just remembered seeing the publicity soon after I took the contract out. So tried to get them to change it, and they were having none of it. So will have to see what they say come renewal time, which is still a good way off.

These MPCs ( mobile phone companies) really get on my tits, my first contract was £40 + £5 for a Nokia 6230 insurance (Orange) I reduced this to around £26 it varies by a few quid each month. I am constantly plaqued with calls to upgrade. I always say no. I tell them I would prefer to go into the shop and upgrade. To be quite honest I don't give a monkeys F*ck It's only a phone at the end of the day. Sooner spend money on the 172 than stitch myself up with extortionate phone contracts.

Yeah but you dont have to Jim

Take for Instance Flex 35 on T-Mobile. Fantastic contract and if you do it over 18 months you get it for £30 a month anda spanking ne handset.

Fleabay you handset and you quid in if you arent bothered about the phone
