1st service

hey my car is a year old now so having the first service!
what do they do in a first service.. ?
also my car only has 4000 miles on it so does it matter if i take it in at end of april?

I thought the 1st service was every 18000 miles? or 2 years?

Your car does not need a service yet. I would guess that your car will need a service a year from now, when it is 2 years old.

yeah helen you font need a service yet - although when you do let me know and i will see if i can have it done by my mate at east bilney garage on the cheap cos most dealers charge too much

As above then 2 years or 12k I believe, I'm sure other 1.2 owners shall confirm.

I was just thinking though... surely any car would need at least an oil change every 12 months otherwise oil will be black as night ? Whatever it is supposed to be mine will be getting done once a year anyway!

Yer I agree, it's more important on higher revving engines, but as you say more often is always better.

In a 1.2 it's not as important if you aren't hooning it everywhere, but if it was my money I'd get an oil change done for the sake of <£50 and then can always get the full service later.

The service rules of 18k/2 years for none Rs and 12k/2years for RS models is what the minimum requiremnts were for Uk speced cars I'd service the car more least chnage the oil its not that much to have done.

Idealy I'd do it ever 6 month/6k.
