handling and fun will piss on the clio, but you have to remember they're quite a bit older and less refined. Anyone on here who thinks a cup is dangerous because it has no ABS would s**t themselves. I've owned 5 205s, 4 being GTIs. I love them, but i'd warn off anyone who doesn't want to, or can't work on the car fairly regularly. Having said that, at one point my 1.9 did 30k without so much as an oil change (the long pending Mi16 conversion reduced my level of care)

The fun is in the chassis though, the 1.6 is not fast, goes ok but not FAST

A decent 1.9 would be nice.

That one in the advert is oxidising and is going pink, plus it was raining when he took the pics and there is not one ounce of wax on the car...

thats so overpriced its unbelievable.
£3k will buy a lovingly maintained one with an mi16 and throttlebodies.
Having owned about 8 205's I'd not pay more than £1k for a car with no real history.
Just picked up a sorrento green 1.6 gti with mint paintwork and interior, but with a blown headgasket for £500. Got a 1.6 engine for free and will do an engine swap.
Should be worth £1500 or so after, not £3k

wat u talking about i had one last year cost me 90 pound to insure 12 months on classic insurance fully com - bout as for the car the rev meter idles alot when i took it to the 205 specialist they said they were like that from the factory- the mi16 is better & faster as long as the lump as been put level or oil will leak everwhere - but have to say the mi16 only does 50miles wid 20pounds petrol thats worth than a golf vr6

id say, buy one, but as danny said be prepared to do some work on it. They are such good fun and so rewarding. I had one and learnt so much working on it. Some have been fcuked about with now, ive seen some with really bad loom adjustments. Be carefull when buying
