360, clearing cache?

Been hearing about this a lot lately.

Is it recommended?

Is it likely to mess anything up? I am no longer connected to the internet so don't want to do it if it is going to cause more problems.

Only reason I ask is that my 360 sometimes freezes so thought it may be worth a go if its rish free and something microsfot recommend?

Erm.. you'll need to be connected to the internets to re-download all the stuff the cache wipe blows away
