360 HD-DVD drive instock?

  Revels Mum & Sister
Is pathetic, these have been out for over 2 months now and you cant get one of the shelf!

Is there any real point in this HD-DVD player apart from the kudos of owning one? Is the quality that much better?

Also I'm not sure I'd spend my money on the HD-DVD's considering blue-ray are out-selling them 3:1 at the moment, it looks like it's going to turn in to the modern equivilant of the betamax imo.

My local PC World had several of these available two weeks ago with the remote and King Kong.

I ordered one from Gameplay in Novemeber - got it for xmas day.

Used it on xmas day it broke - and i'm still waiting for my replacement!!!!

Also cost me £20 to send it back! which they haven't refund me for :(

Not a happy bunny - and i'll never use gameplay again because this is not the only thing they messed me about on!

Supply wasn't the issue - it took them a month before actually processing my return!!

apparently HD is really worth it, but ive never seen it. I wouldn't have bought a HD player yet because blue-ray might take over (bit like VHS did) but that might not happen. anyway, let us know what you think!

I read somewhere blu-ray won't allow p**n makers to use them. If that's true, they'll go the way of betamax lol.

HD-DVD is definately worth it, when you go back to TV/normal DVD you can REALLY see the difference. Its just quite frustrating having the technology and there being quite frankly a sh*t choice of HD-DVDs to buy.

you been looking in the right places, there is a load of good films out, you just have to import them from the states, plus they are cheaper anyway.

With betamax and VHS though that was the first time people could get p**n in their own homes so it had much more of an affect on the format war, today there's the internet and standard DVDs so it's unlikely to be as important... has anyone seen any HD p**n?.. it's not a pretty sight lol a little too much detail....

Anyway I've just ordered a Drive cheers Dink and canceled my HMV one which I've been waiting months for

I will be interested in HD DVD's when you can rent them from Blockbuster as I am a cheap skate and dont buy DVD's :)
you can have them through lovefilm online rentals, that what i use, no need to worry about going to blockbuster when you can have it delivered to your house!

Blu-Ray is already outselling HD-DVD so it has no need to take over anything, it's the other way around. No guarantee that it'll stay that way though.

For £130 it doesn't really matter which format survives, might as well enjoy cutting-edge video as it really is amazing quality. King Kong (s**t film) city-scenes look like a well-taken photo - pin-sharp, amazing colour and detail. It won't make a bad film good, but it is definitely the way forward.

Loads of companies will deliver to your house now, including Blockbuster.
AFAIK only lovefilm are offering HD-DVD though, that i have seen anyway unless the companies that use lovefilms system (which seem like quite a few of them) are doing them now too.

Oh sorry my bad. Didn't realise you meant HD-DVD, I was just talking in general.

Ignore what I said - duff info lol.

One of the main reasons I havent bothered with HD DVD was I didnt know anywhere that rented them, still only 27 titles available on lovefilm, why are the newest releases not coming out on HD ??

they are but only from the studios supporting it.

I buy most of mine from the US using axelmusic, great site, great prices and great delivery with no import tax as they ship from the EU.
