5 Lever Dials

wondering if anyone knows if i can replace my standard dual lever dials for 5 lever RT/RN dials for a MK1 phase III clio...Just that i can get hold of them easily and cheaply, not only that,i dont have rev gadges and oil gadges on my dual lever dials. if i can will i have to add anything to make things on the dials work, ie will just be able to plug everything in and thats it. i have spare plugs at the back of my dials that dont do anything and assume there for a 5 lever dial kit.

any suggestions appreciated

speedo wobble is caused by a kinked speedo cable, pretty much every Clio Mk1 suffers from it...

yer,had a feelin that was the case coz got mates wiv same car and theres does it as well, does anyone know about 5 lever dials.

plz let me know

If you have a Mk1 Phase3, the rev counter wont work unless you have it converted to work with the DIS module.

I had to send my dials away, cost £75 in all.. then I wired it to the DIS.

Direct Ignition System.. instead of having a coil etc.. its all electronic and in one unit.

Worth it - I didnt have a rev counter - very useful, one of the first things I did..

If you dont wanna go to all the trouble, you could get a big aftermarket rev counter.. but, I wanted it to look original.

If you have a Mk1, Phase1 or Mk1 Phase2, I think you can just put higher spec dials in.. because they use the same ignition system.. they changed it on the Mk1 Phase3 to the same engine and stuff as they put in the Mk2 Clios..

did u get mk1 phase III RT/RN dials, were did you send them off 2 for this DIS thingy, how come theres isnt a DIS thingy in my car already. yes unfortunatly my engine is the same as the early mkII but not sure if they changed it later towards W (99)...

I got some dials from a Sport.. Mk1 Phase3 Maxim, but its a 1.4.. so doesnt have the DIS module..

If you have a 1.2 in a Mk1 Phase3 youll have the DIET engine which uses the DIS module.. thats why the rev counter wont work - you either have to put a distributer on the engine.. or, convert the dials.

i thought all cars had distributers, thought the distributer controlled the timing of the spark plugs, thus the rev counter been able to judge rpm. not sure if its a diet engine. id have 2 see a picture to tell you if it is or not
