I sold my clio at the weekend, but 2hrs after the lad purchased it a coolant hose split. I felt awful, went over to help him and used my AA membership to get car sorted. And offered to give him his money back and take car off his hands again.
He said he wanted to keep it, so I told him to replace all the coolant hoses on the car and I would pay for it. Either standard pipes or if he wanted samco, etc I would cover cost of fitting and put a bit towards the silicone hoses (to the value of a standard set).
It's the least I could do, as I felt like I'd sold him a faulty car. Although it had been running fine for 6 months and flew through it's mot the day before with no advisories.
I know people will say it's sold as seen, but that doesn't seem honest.
But here's my dilemma, after I've paid for the coolant system to be sorted. What happens if in 2 weeks time a wire snaps or it blows something ?
How long is a reasonable time before I say "it's your problem now mate" especially considering I offered to have the car back off him.
