Air con

Is it a good idea to occasionally use the air con during the winter so not to have problems when you come to use it more in the summer. I have heard of people having problems with it making strange smells etc if it isnt used enough. Or does it not matter?

Any thoughts...

You should give it a good running every month to stop bacteria amassing in it and making it smell bad.

I usually set it to the lowest temp for about 10-15 mins.

not just an issue of bacteria, the system uses a refrigerant gas and there is also an oil in the system which lubricates seals and o-rings between components, if you dont run the A/C the gar doesnt get circulated nor does the oil, this means the seals etc are more likely to dry up shrink back or perish and leak gas therefore meaning the system will not work and need regassing, i use mine at the very least once a week. and remember its not only good for lowering the temp, the system takes moisture out of the air so will help clearing steamed up windows in the winder/rain.

when i had my peugeot GTI-6, the owner never used the air con, so i had it for a few months and never used it either, so when i did come to use it, it didnt work.

I was told, (like Loony said above) it needs regassing.

So i sold the car instead and bought a 172Cup. so now i dont need to worry because it dont come with air con :D
