Alarm question

  RenaultSport clio 182
Occasionally after locking the car the alarm gives 2 - 3 short (quiet) beeps, the doors lock and the lights flash as usual. If I open and relock it does not do it again.

Any ideas what is going on ?

Another common problem is when you lock the car the alarm beeps 2 or 3 times.
Reason: The alarm system has received a signal from the vehicle ECU that the ignition is 'on' causing the alarm to beep. This signal is only received by the alarm for 3 to 4 seconds, after this time has elapsed the alarm stops beeping.

Solution: It can only be resolved at a Renault dealer. Ask the dealer to contact the 'Renault alarm help line' and quote reference
'RS+15'.

edde, you are a star.

I rarely use my 182 during the week and it spends most of its time in my garage. When i go to get it out on a weekend it beeps 4 times telling me the alarm has been activated, the alarm has gone off at other places randomly for a while now as well. It does not do it all the time so i can`t show a dealer the problem but its done this now about a dozen or so times.

Any ideas whats causing it to false alarm on a regularish basis ?

Cheers

Funkyjahooner -

Next time you park your car up for the week, disable the ultrasonic sensors, then lock up your car, when you come back to use your car, if it does not beep to tell you it went off then you know it is the ultrasonic sensors, i had this problem and the dealer checked out my alarm and turned down the sensitivity and it has been fine.

Al 182 -

I find if i wait 5 - 10 secs after shutting the door before arming the alarm then it does not beep.

Cheers for the replies :0)

Can the sensitivity only be reduced to 20 % ? Seems a bit mad that something designed to detect movement has to be set right down to avoid false alarms. Alarms are a pain in the arse !

I will check how many blinks next time it happens.
