Amping stock head unit

yes you can, but you will need an amp that can accept high-line inputs, which are no longer common

you will lose the use of two of the 4 speakers as you will need to chop the cable

or i suppose you could daisy-chain the cable,

but for the hassle is it, you may aswell buy another head unit, will sound much better, look better, and no need to screw around with OEM wiring

agree with bambam, I did this ages ago and the sound was horrific, had to buy a new HU and everything was sorted... not worth the hassle

Most amp makers have 1 or 2 amps with speaker level inputs in their range, but they sound sh*te when connected to a standard headunit.
