Amplifier High Input Connection

At the moment to keep costs down I am sticking with the standard Reno CD player but I bought a cheap amp off eBay to power a sub that I got off a mate.

The amp has "screw down" high input connections and it works great. The only problem with it is that it doesnt have a low frequency filter so I am having to use an external crossover box.

It all works fine but it could be tidier so I am looking to buy another cheapish amp that has a filter built in. The problem is that on all the ones I have seen, the high input connector is a small set of pins. Im not quite sure how to get the wires connected without attempting to solder them on directly.

Is there some kind of adapter plug that I am not seeing to take the speaker cables and plug them onto the high input connection? If so where do you get them or do they come with the amp?

Cheers,
Andy

I think i see what youre asking. Im assuming that you want to use the crossovers on the amp to get a better sound (although in most cases they should work with the high input anyway). To do this you may need to use speaker - RCA converters. They are available in most places like Halfords but you will probably have to order them. They attach to your speaker cables in the same way as the high input connector. If you use a couple of those then you can run a set of RCAs to the amp which should fix the problem.

With the new amp youll receive a plug which plugs directly into the amplifier high-level input slot. The other end will have a few wires coming off it which you connect to your speaker wires by either soldering or by crushing a terminal on each and connecting that way.

Hope this answers your question.

Frosty, yeh thats what I wanted to know cheers. I just didnt know if the plug came with the amp or if you got them somewhere separate.

Thanks for the help.
