Annoying Wireless problem

My mums laptop picks up 3 other wireless connections. Annoying thing is that sometimes it connects to them in preference to her router upstairs. Whats that all about. One of which isn't even in the prefered network connections!

How can i telll it to ALWAYS use her router??

There is probably the option to connect to "non-preferred" wireless connections. Make sure its unticked.

Clart, once connected do the following

Go to Network Connections
Double click on the Wireless Network Connection
Go to Properties
Go to Wireless Networks tab
In the preferred Networks list, click on your Mums connection
Then click Properties
Click on Connection tab
Tick the box and click ok
BACK In the preferred Networks list, click on each rogue connection in turn and
Then click Remove
Click Ok again to finish.
Close any open Windows and you should be sorted.

That should do it. Now, whenever the network is in range it will connect to it by default and hopefully not the others!

yup done that about 5 times! lol.

I think there is a problem with the router, cos i keep losing the connection. Then it reconnects with the other ones it can find

As said there should be a do not connect to unprefered wireless networks or something similar option on the laptop.

If it keeps losing the connection try changing the wireless channel as the other people might be interfering.

If you configure the WEP/WPA on both the router and card will it not stop it connecting to the other routers as authentication will fail?
