anyone good with formulas on excel

  Hyundai i40
brought some work home for the 1st time ever

i need to do a kinda merge between a lookup and an IF formula

im working between two spreedsheets

if the value is less that 0 it needs to take a value from one column and pull it in to the other spreedsheet and if its more than 0 it needs pull in another figure from another column

the things is both sheets arent in the same order.

i know you can use VLOOKUP to pull in the figures under the same name and IF formula to use a true/false thing for above or below zero

im looking for a formula to pull these both together

can anyone help?:)

thanks if you can

Instead of trying to put it all into one formula, break the formula down into its component parts, with each part in its own cell.

If I'm doing something complex, it makes it easier to pull together that way, being able to see each bit in its own column.

When you finally get the result you need, either write out the formula as one in a new cell before deleting all your workings, or just hide your 'workings' columns leaving the result column visible.
