anyone know much about projectors and screens?

  Fabia vRS
i have just purchased myself a nice optoma ep1691 720p HD projector and i am lacking in funds to purchase a screen at the moment.

what are the downsides of just projecting onto a white wall?

also has anyone used this projector, if so what did you think? i am buying it blind without ever having seen one in use, and reviews are pretty thin on the ground.

Downsides I guess would be the whites wouldnt be quite white. I had one a few years ago, still got the screen in my shed. 1.5m x 1.5m which is probably too small by todays standards.

I used an Ikea Blind, cant remember which one and it was a while ago. But worked well. I got this from Avforums

I made my own screen to go with my Panny PTAX100. I bought a few metres of black out blind, some wood for the frame, some velvet that I wrapped the wood in and stapled securely, some l-shaped brackets to hold the four bits of velvet covered and mitre cut bits of wood to make the frame, some sticky back velcro stapled to the back of the frame and voila! Cheap, very effective screen. I mounted it with some hooks and eyelets so its easily removeable. Also, when putting the velcro on the frame and then screen, make sure you make the velcro on the screen is slightly smaller than that on the frame so you can scretch the screen to make it nice and tight. If you want a better guide, PM me and I'll jot something down.
