Thanks...well you see, I recently converted it to turbocharged, and I have very little reference on how much it will handle, so I am a bit frightened that it might blow up under certian boost...any way I can get more info somewhere, somehow?

Damn...No more than 200...I am running on 190 almost 200, so I guess that is the limit for now then...you blew it with 200? with some kind of lsd ( limited slip diff) or something?
No i blew 2 gearbox's on a pretty much standard 172 engine, there isnt much you can do to make it stronger, i had my third box fully re-built with a quaife gearset and 182 diff, BB and K-tec both have had their turbo 172's running for a while not heard of their boxes going..... i would ask them or speak to specialist box builder see if they can do anything for you

Quaife gearset?? I´ve looked around, not much to find in the net..that gearset is for how much lbs/ft? som tips where to find ?
K-tec says they run their standard kit pulling 260 bhp ( flywheel) .. that would be some more bhp than my car (around 230-240)..and if they developed a kit, maybe the gear can handle a bit more, thay wouldn´t wanna have a hole bunch of gearboxes exploding.
I am running a bit of a laarge turbo, I have worked on this project for a while, the turbo is a garrett GT35BBR (dual ball bearing). Minnimum pressure for this turbo due to the gearbox´s unknown limit..I intend to find some sort of gearbox that will handle the power that this turbo can produce, this being new, or make some sort of arrangement with another standard gearbox of another car( any ideas are welcome). The search continues.

Does anyone know what gearbox can be fitted into the 172, that can handle a lot of power, and that is not to hard to fit in? thanks.
There a 172 running 300hp and the box is ok. It depends how you drive if you drive it hard rush the syncros and dump the power then you'll kill it quick.
Stock power though with abuse can kill it quick there quite a few 172/182 had new boxes as they've been broken but loads of 100k+ 172's with original boxes.
