AP22’s

Hiya guys/girls

I am considering buying an AP22. Is it considered a good buy. What do you guys think of the accuracy.

Also how is it powered.

Cheers for any help.

Looks Good. Does anyone have the input data for the Cup.

Will have to get one.
See the racing section...

Just a word of warning....make sure you have a very flat and smooth piece of road where you can do a standing start. The AP22 is probably accurate with the tenth of a second that the manufacturer claims, but only if there are no changes in gradient during a run.

Because it measures acceleration and deceleration g forces, if you start your run on the flat and go up a small rise in the road during the run, the unit will record it as a sudden increase in acceleration as the car tips back. Vice-versa for going downhill during a run.

A good buy? Yes, definitely, especially for measuring the difference modifications have made, but be aware of its limitations and dont take the figures as gospel! If you want pretty much infalible data, get a VBOX (but they cost a fortune!)

Yep as Rhys says, and when do you know youre on a flat road? Never.so it will never be accurate! I personally wouldnt bother unless you want data logging for track, just getting it for 0-60 times is a waste of £100 or whatever it costs these days.

I ran my AP22 against the official timing slips at Santa Pod the other week, sometimes it was pretty well spot on on 1/4 mile and terminal speed, other times it was optomistic. No idea why it varied given that the conditions were exactly the same for each run and I did not mess with the calibration.
