are all ph2 ecu's silver in colour?

the reason I ask is that I have bought a spare ecu, supposed to be from a cup and the front (flat side) is black, but all other ph2 ecu's that I have seen pics of are silver!! yet the ph1's that I have seen were black!!! I hope I have not got myself a turkey.

Whats the part number?

If its 2nd hand you will need to get it unlocked anyway costs around £100 from www.fastchip.nl

aye I know about the unlocking side of things but i've sent it off to K-TEC for a group N reflash so that will take care of that TBH I didn't check the part no as it was (alleged) to come off a 172CUP bought from cit-ren breakers, it's just that looking on BBPT website and also another which I cannot remember the ph2 172 ecu's all seem to be silver in colour whereas the 1 I recieved was black on top where the code sticker is.

Can you remember the model? It should have been a Siemens Sirrus 34. the sirrus 32 is used on the 1.4's and 1.6's etc. They are usually black and a fair bit smaller.

Hmmm K-tec have just got back to me and FFS it is a ph1 ECU that I have been given!!!! so I am now looking for another ph2 172 ECU, anyone? oh and I have a ph1 ECU spare now hurrah!!
