Which one would you guys say is best to get?

Want sports channels and documentaries, virgin have setanta added on for free with the sky sky sport channels costing an extra £18 a month. Also will need BB and well with a high speed. So its looking like virgin media but there are to many options arrhhhhhhh :S :S :S

BB is capped on both at peak times, although i've heard sky is worse. My virgin is pretty good tbh, and i'm geting a free upgrade from 4mb to 10mb, so sign up for the 4mb if you can. also you get fibre connection with virgin which is better than sky.

Call them up, and ask what there best deal is. then say you will call back, get name and number...

Then call other company, find the same deal, ask for best price then tell them what the other company offered - £5-£10, depending on what they offer.

Then when they give a good deal. Call back the other comapny and tell them ur quote. Then they will offer a better deal. Then you ask for a better quote! They won't give you the best quote until you have talked to the manager!

I had the same two options and chose VM and I'm glad I did. The combination of TV, Phone and BB with them is great value.

I have virgin media, and V+ rocks. Have the 20mb broadband and no real issues. They are currently trialing 100mb broadband which will be rolled out to 20mb customers after the trials

Virgin is v cheap for me.

BB - 8m
Phone 24hr usage - 1hr limit
TV - Normal channels + sports and extras (Basically freeview)

£15 P/M not including mobile calls.

  A blue one.
The channel I watch on sky the most is "Sky One".

That isn't available on virgin....

on demand is quality imo

i pay £61 for the top tv package, BB and phone line!! unbeatable if u ask me

i was £65 for sky £15 for AOL and £50 per quarter for BT so i have saved a small fortune by switching

I had Virgin TV Drive and Virgin Internet 20mb.

I kept the Virgin Internet but swapped the TV to Sky HD.

Best decision I ever made. Virgin TV is terrible in comparison. The boxes are slow, buggy, there are hardly any HD channels and you get loads of other channels on Sky that I never had before.

Forget whether it's fibre or not, cable networks are shared multiaccess networks so during busy periods you will be fighting for bandwidth with the guy next door (hence the reason why so many people complain about lack of bandwidth!)

A good unbundled ADSL2+ service is far better in terms of contention and throughput.

Sky.
I think everyone I've ever spoken to, who has Virgin/NTL, do it based purely on cost.. if Sky was the same price, they'd get Sky every time.. :p

After using virgin tv/broadband/phone I wouldn't sign a contract with them. Ever! I know of three people who have yet to have a full month of either broadband connection or television. It's a joke. You phone to complain and they try to fob you off saying there is no problem yet magically an hour after the phone call it mysteriously starts working again. Download speeds at peak times are woeful as well. The one guy has been refunded 7 months out of the year due to lack of service, i'd rather just have a package that works. I hate how slow the cable box responds to remote presses. Apparantly the V+ box is better but the one i've used is still awful. The only good thing is the on demand content.

I've been with sky for 3 years now and have just started a new contract. It's only slightly more expensive, but it's so much easier and quicker to use.
