Auto headlights question

I have auto headlights, but would like them to come on sooner. The question is can you alter how sensitive they are so they come on when it is not quite so dark?

Leave the auto 'on' but turn 'em manually 'on'!

You could add a tinted film over the sensor so it thinks it's darker than it is...
Altering the resistance in the sensor circuit is probably another option but you need to know what you're doing!
I doubt there's a magic button anywhere to achieve what you want. I could be wrong (usually am).

How do you know if you have auto headlights?

I have the auto wind screen wipers, but curious to know if I have the headlights too.
