Autoglym...

  Bumder With A Buffer
Before I start Im a total noob to all this so be easy!

Im off to the Local Halfrauds tomorrow and I noticed a thread on here about them doing a 2 for 3 offer on Autoglym products.

My question is what things to buy? I.e all this SRP etc etc. Im not wanting to go guns blazing into detailing but the car could do with a good clean and a bit of TLC so..

Im guessing I want some Autoglym SRP then some EGP? anything else I should think about getting? Wax?? (or is that what the EGP/SRP stuff does??) I

I been reading this part of the forum for a while but it all gets a bit confusing especially when people say do this , then do that etc.

Cheers

Rich

SRP and EGP are quite a good combo together, then they have the hi-def wax aswell. Can you feel the detailing bug starting to bite? ;)

Yes! :( I wash it at the moment with just normal car shampoo at the moment and have decided i want it to look clean and tidy for longer than 1 day!

Although I won't be detailing any hoovers etc!! :)

Basic guide here:

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=291933

Fundamentals:

Wash
Dry
Polish with SRP
Seal with the EGP

Wax is an additional step but the above will leave your paintwork looking good and well protected.

Clean the Wheels and Glass, Dress the trim and Tyres and you will have a good looking exterior.

Cheers guys... that thread you posted Paul is the best one i have read from a noobie perspective :)

See that's the issue I think most people have, I know people get annoyed with the same question being asked over and over again but when there's conflicting reviews etc.. it gets confusing to a noob!

Think il just have to try that method and see how I get on TBH.

I have a feeling my arms will ache after the weekend!

Applying the EGP requires no effort, and removing it is a breeze as long as you get it on thin enough.

SRP may require some elbow grease in places if your trying to clean up and marring, if the paint is in good shape, even that won't need much effort as long as you again don't use too much product.

dont worry mate - log on to D/W you will find lots of interesting tips and things you pick up your self that you find you get good results from! you dont have to be a sheep lol!

your arms shouldnt ache to much tbh! if they are your doing it wrong LOL! small amounts of srp and even smaller amounts of egp get good results! as i have previously said some nice megs pads (2.99 for x2 on ebay) are a good investment too! clean them afterwords and they will last a while! :approve:

Straight lines not circles for waxes and sealants will be less visible if you cause any swirls or marring, if you can see it in pics it is too thick !

It is so thin and watery it is easy to apply in back and forth motions.

Straight lines is the preferred method for most non abrasive products (waxes and sealants) where you don't actually need to physically work them.

When you see swirls on a car they are always in circular motions and look how back they show up as they easily catch the light, to avoid any risk of making marks that will show up as badly use straight lines.

heres a free tip, for exterior plastics, use peanut butter. lasts longer than back to black and similar products, and is cheaper!! just make sure its smooth not crunchy!!!
